:lol: I was looking for a way to have alot torpedos in my sub along time ago. I had given up thinking that the game just did not allow more torpedos being added.

anyhow opon tring other things with my sub, I accidently came upon the answer.
You have to use the S3d editor (search the forums if you do not know what this is) In the SIM file of the SUB, there are storage options for torpedos. I beleive they are called arrays. you just have to add them separtly by creating new arrays. and then edit the subs UPC file accrodingly. I have done 2 missions with 20 torps up front and 15 in back with no problem.


Also I am using 1.5, not sure if that might fix it also.

If you have not used s3d editor, I suggest it.

unfortunately we can't add new torpedo types, they're hardcoded in the game (ask Skwasjer about it) so we have to make do with modifying the existing ones, the number of torp is a different thing altogether.

All I could do is add the slots for each individual torp textures.

Keltos- how did you get the torps added for the mod you did. or was that just redirecting the .UPC or whatever?


Dtrain- Ill see if it works in v1.4.

yeap it works in v1.4 10 in aft storage 12 in fore storage

there should be a txt file in the main directory of the mod with the changes, I used S3D, you have to modify the .sim (what they do), .dat (what they are), .zon (how they blow up), localization.upc (description), ammunition.upc (which what..)

uh look at the files in my mod and the most recent dates those are the modified files.

uh look at the files in my mod and the most recent dates those are the modified files.

I know that part. I meant with the US_Torpedoes512.dds file. Did you redirect the mk28 to take one of those slots and diable it for like the mk10.

I removed the 3d model of the mk27 in the .dat file and gave that node the id address of the mk 10 3d model, so that it would use that one , there now we have a long body mk 28 :lol:

I have edited the .Sim file with the editor and added 9 more to the storage that gives a total storage of 19

Could you point which part of the .upc file has to be edited in order to add 10 more Torpedoes/tube

you want to do a search for bunker and when you find it, the ID should be below the line, you have stern torpedo room, a decoy bunker and a bow torpedeo room, that the corrsponding values that need to be edited under that.


I can make a mod for this, and give it to you guys that do not want to do the editing you self. just let me know what amount of torps. per aft and fore and I will make it this week end.

as Far as stability, I really have not noticed any. It runs really good and is really nice not to have to worry how torps I have left.

I would appreciate having 10 more in front and 10 more at the rear tubes :D

After applying the changes in the upc Is it necessary to do a complet Remap of the 6 other Sub. files ?

no, just do the sub you are working on, but you will have to start a new game for this to work, it will not work from a saved one.

You are using a German sub, I have only done this with a American one which is way diffrent! any one else have experince with this?

I had some troubles with the balao torpedoes. I have set 12 reloads in the fore bunker and 6 reloads in the aft bunker. Total 28 torps. This should be the right configuration for a tench class boat. the fact is that when i start a campaign the submarine is completely empty. I also tweaked the upc file to match the new sim settings but nothing happened.
Any suggestion?

In the UPC file has a default torpedos section. right below the Bunker where you specifed the amount of torps, you will have ( i think there is 3 seprate lines for seprate times of the campaign) the will have the torp name then the number of those torps. try adujusting that for the new torpedo settings. Again make sure it is a new carreer, not a saved one.

I seen what you said and wil make the mod when I get time. I will probaly make a mod that offers all subs with a certain amount of torps, but I am not going to make custom mods, and will be made at my discretion. As soon as i have time that is.

Hey everyone, this is my first post.

I managed to edit the .Sim file, but that is pretty much it. I have no clue what a UPC file is, can anyone help? Maybe a quick step by step guide for the noob?

Update: I found the .UPC files. The question is which one do I edit and which section do I edit and to what value? Right now I am trying to get the Porpise sub working.

Update again: I found NSS_Porpoise, I think this is it. What do I edit here? I have 20 Trops in the front and 10 in the back.

Look in the submarines folder under data, then the folder of the sub you wish to edit ie nss_balao there is a file.UPC. this can be edited by notepad. do a search for bunker till you find[UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 1.Bunker 1] this is stern torps bunker.2 is decoys and bunker.2then search for this[UserPlayerUnit 1.Compartment 5.Bunker 1] this is bow torpsyou will need to edit capicty and if you want it auto fill all tubes then this line belowDLinkAmmunitionIntervalDefault1= NULL, null, Mk18Torpedo, 7, Mk23Torpedo, 8will have to be editedthere is 3 of them. I simply made one total and put null where the years would be. this tell the comp on how many of what type of torp to use and what years to this fromie if you wanted it from 1941 to 1942 you would fill in the null with the years first null be the beginning. look at how the stock is and you should be able to figure it out.
