Hey fellows, I haven't been around here long but I have had alot of modding experience. I'm looking to start mod work similiar to my mod for Battlefield 2 - Department Store Battles http://www.bf2battle.com/
So now come's y'alls part.
What do you want? I'm talking about the craziest thing you ever wished for in SH4.
Ideas thus far:
-Playable PT Boat
-Script modding on weapons (Similiar to KillerSub Mod)
-Playable Aircraft
-Deathmatch style Multiplayer
-New skins for just about everything
-Different patrol starting spots
-Make depthcharges into kegs
-Kamikazi's
-Better Multiplayer maps
-Submarine entirely crewed by "Animal House" charecters
-More "Life like" voices. (I don't think anyone would calmly say "we're taking damage, sir.")
Alright, give me ideas and tell me now if any of these goals are completely impossible.

Maybe work on modeling the 3D interior of a Pocket Battleship (or destroyer) would be a nice start. Xantrokoles need someone's to do this part.

I wouldnt mind manning the odd shore gun . Maybe use the sub gun as a shore gun some how . I dunno .

Actually i thought about it and if you could make a mod where you can take on the role of one of the commandoes and turn it into a first person shooter the same as BF2 and the same graphics then that would be ok .

Maybe you could play as a submarine...oh wait, never mind.
Other crazy wants
1. BB warfare but Xantrokoles and a couple of others are almost there.
2. Strategy overlay - you control convoys, task forces, subs and can jump into any one at any time - sort of a Great Naval Battles + SH4 + Total War
3. Play as a fish in the sea - have an entire fish/shark/whale battle - compete with others for food, use sonar etc.

This is basically what the new Battlestations Pacific game is going to be, including aircraft. Some of the screenshots showed hammerhead sharks and other marine life. Pretty nice looking. Hope it plays well. Basically, it reminded me of BF1942, but better graphics and only single player.

Oh we'll have the full fastfood selection in port. Good suggestion.
As for fish and stuff, that shouldn't be too difficult though I think it would make your fps unimagineably bad.
As for being in a raiding party. The theory is there. But Bf2 has a special python based engine (for the most part, kind of, sort of).
Though what about this: brace yourself
Have raiding parties board merchants! And you get to play a bit FPS style.
As for a playable fish/shark/whale. I actually think that would be pretty easy to do.
Hear me out:
You'd take the physics encorporated with the sub, lock yourself into one view (most likely the periscope) Then just a change up of the keylayout, and poof, you're a fish.
It's be alot like the bait and switch we did with the flying jeep in Bf2, we just stole the physics for the F-35B and dumbed down alot of the controls.
Hmm, I have the afternoon off; So I'll see if I can mess around with that idea.
In regards to the CA question, I'd prefer to have someone make a 3d model for it. Then start from mostly scratch...
Personally I'd like a Prinz Eugen or Pensacola.

Everybody is talking about many things except one which was so asked before.
A playable aircraft would be as interesting as strange in a sub simulator, however there's something more important at this point: Ground targets for surface ships and subs. How to recreate battles as the Overlord Operation if there's no land presence to burn or smash. Do you remeber that land objects are indestructible by now?

I don't not believe in them; therefore they do not exist.
This seems like an easy problem to fix. Just render a cheap collision mesh, add a dash of coding and you're set.

How about more crew stuff, like a playable poker game with the crew. Take names from an off-watch list and you are the fourth. Something to do while on patrol.
Same with dice.
How about a player controlled crew training module that lets them upgrade their skills during a patrol. (I know it is in there, but there is no part for the player in it.)
How about some crew that don't have missing or red eyes !:hmm:
How about a captain with a peg leg?
Actually I'd kill to have a fully modeled interior of the sub over flyable planes in SHIV.

As in Sh3 coastal batteries, buildings, even trees, etc, all of them are untouchable. And experimented moders had troubles to made something usefull in sh3, I guess if it's the same in sh4. One of the problems they had was there's no advanced code for land units but simple and for eye candy pourposes only.

They might have tried to hard code it in correctly. Instead, say strip the smoke stack off of a BB mesh and use that as a tree's collision mesh. Then export it a hundered different ways and make everything wonderful.
From my past experiences, it's never ok to start completely over. Steal as much code from everything as you possibly can, then very carefully add your own touches.
It might not be the most original thing to do, but when you work on a 4 man mod team and get published in PC Zone Magazine in the UK, you can make exceptions.
In the mean time, It's night (which expotentially expands your coding ability), I've had a few beers, and I'm listening to country music (Yes, I'm from Texas) So I'll see what I can get done tonight.
If there are ANY 3D modelers out there that would like to help with this project please let me know; I would greatly appreciate being able to work with you.

Another idea is to have volcanoes . Make them out of an ice berg or something that we can place via the mission editor . I placed two opposing BBs together once on top of a mountain and i had instant volcano noise and smoke .

Update:
Hey fellows, don't worry I haven't swept this under the door. Work on the S-Class AKA Spitze Boot is nearly finished.
S-18:
-Increased surface speed to 35 knts
-Increased submerged speed to 28 knts
-Decrased drag while submerged
-Increased max range
-Increased Mk10 Torpedo speed to 50 knts
-Increased Mk10 max degree of up angle
-Decreased Mk10 arming distance
-Increased firing arc of torpedoes from 135* to 165*
-Greatly improved diving and surfacing times
-Increased crush depth
-Decreased hull armour value
-Increased hull hitpoints
-Brand new coat of paint
Balao:
-It can do barrel rolls
-New coat of paint
-That's about it
Things to do:
-Intro movie
-Finish Spitze Boot
-Finish all the other boats
-Mess with torpedoes
-More skins
-Taco Bell

have one...and it's not...it's actually difficult in some situations
