Hi,
Very impressed with the whole Sun effect, especially there glare between clouds and when it's high in the sky. The moon is also fantastic now (although I do wonder if it should be a smidge smaller). One problem I'm getting is both of them flicker. I can only describe it as a jagged black flicker. Both the Moon and Sun do it except for when the Sun is low in the sky although I'm guessing the glare could be hiding the effect. I tried to screenshot it except it happens randomly and only for a fraction of a second and despite taking about ten shots they all missed. Guess my reactions aren't so good!
It's the only graphic anomoly I'm getting. Does anyone else see it? Could it be down to something on the 3D Settings page in nVidia control panel?
PS: In GWX2.0 my crew configuration buttons CTD'd me. With 2.1 it doesn't happen anymore. I didn't see any mention of this on the list of changes so it seems you fixed it without even realising it! -damn you guys are good.
The flickering of sun and moon and sometimes the horizon...is because of the Graphic Card. I had this on and off in my SH3 gaming.
Probably drivers!:hmm:

That's a bitch. The drivers I'm using at the moment have been the most stable of the ones I've tried so far. I'm really hoping it isn't this. Otherwise, it's back to the lab... :stare:
Tinker around with the AA & AF settings! Maybe you'll find your golden middle!:hmm:

Fixed in OLCE2.
It's a stock bug (at least, I had it since stock) but I think it only affects certain graphics cards.
I've had the same flickering sun & moon isssue too. Been that way since stock SH3. Don't know what causes it or how to get rid of it for good. Geforce FX 7300 LE.
Hi all
Murr44, If you read OLC 's last post, he states exactly what fixes the problem for good :) Im sure you just missed it. OLC's work is truly great stuff. Im a big fan.
Cheers
From what I understand that mod contains a 15-km atmosphere, which would probably tax my graphics card considerably & getting a newer one really isn't an option as it would void my pc's warranty (plus there is the cash flow problem to consider, eg: I ain't made of money). I fell into the "get a better video card" trap with my old pc & it turned out to be a big waste of money.:damn: The "better" card that I bought was overpriced & didn't improve my gaming experience by very much.
I'm sure that it's a great mod but is there a way to fix the issue without it?
OLC's Environment mod comes with 3 versions depending on machine specs, there is very little loss in fps, give it a go, since it's JSGME ready just disable if you don't want it, but you will!:yep: Correct me if I'm wrong OLC!

OLCE (the first version) does have 3 detail levels, plus a 4th if you download the "lowest possible detail" patch, but OLCE has been superceded now by OLCE2, which is included in the OLC Ubermod and has just one detail setting. From the reports I'm seeing in the Ubermod thread, it sounds like people aren't having any bad FPS drops with OLCE2.
Edited:
Murr44, give the mod a try. AFAIK there is no other way to fix the problem other than modding, and no other mods that fix it.
Same comment than Murr44: i dont whish use a 15 km mod i dont like to solve the problem.
Perhaps someone can "extract" the fix to resolve this bug ?

Good luck.

OCLE2 is approximately 1,000 times faster than OCLE1 medium version on my 7800.

I gave it a try and I don't think I'll be playing without it again. I'm not using the GUI (stuck in my old ways, I know) but the graphics overall is really a must. :yep:
Also, it did fix my flickering Sun/Moon problem.
One issue I'm still getting is the building window lights (as seen when in the harbour) flicker once I get so far from them. Funny thing is when I zoom in at them with the binos they stop. When I'm docked before leaving and look left and right at them they're solid. When I get a few hundred metres away they flicker, I think the textures are flickering. Zoom in with the binos and they become solid again.
