View Full Version : Repack tga file in Gwx Dat ???
Strange thing, trying repack my own tga file inside Gwx Dat, impossible to refund the same value using Photoshop ?!
By example, Typ 2B_Hull = 2 464 Ko and mine, save in 24 bit compressed RLE = 2 635 bit
Where is the trap ?

Why are you saving with compressed RLE?
That's only for files with Alpha Channels.
yes, you right, i dont know i write this, never use this method.
but with sh3 original dat, no problem: i repack all tga i wish in 24 or 32 bit
No one to give a suggestion to resolve my little problem ? I'm half surprised; all forum's users are gentlemen, but there are exceptions.

PM me a link to your tga and I'll look into it.

Sorry Pascal, RL got in the way.
If your TGA is the same dimensions as the original i.e 1024x1024, then there is additional info, maybe an alpha channel, which is increasing the file size.
As with Privateer, PM me the TGA or PSD file and I'll take a look.
Merci beaucoup, it's very kind. It's not so important, but i'm disturb to not understand why i cant repack.
This is a link on my type II skin:

Used version 2 of Pack3d and it imported with no problem.

Cool, at least it works.
@ Pascal
Did you create this yourself in Photoshop or similar?
The reason for the file size difference is that when it was created it had sections that went outside of the original 1024x1024 dimensions. You can't see them but they are there. When the file was saved as a TGA that extra information was still there, that's why the file is larger.
When finishing a PSD/TGA file which has overlapping areas, always choose (no layer selected) Select All > Crop. This will delete any/all info that overlaps the 1024x1024 dimensions.

But i never had problems before when i repack tga files inside original sh3 Dat. I have this problem only with Gwx Dat version. (used sh3 Unpacker)
That's why it's strange.
