View Full Version : Can't shoot down any planes in "ASW_8.0_STANDARD_1.5"

Is it me or is it virtually impossible to shoot planes down with AA fire either manual or with the AI in "ASW_8.0_STANDARD_1.5". :damn:

I have repeatedly expended ALL of my AA ammo on just one plane, multiple times, at close range and scoring multiple hits and all the planes ever do is continue to fly around "burning" never getting shot down.

Is this a feature of "ASW_8.0_STANDARD_1.5".

If so how do I make the planes slightly more destructable/fragile without reverting them to the wimpy "stock game" levels?

Thanks!

Unless memory fails me, ASW doesn't mess with the airplane's hit points. I'll look at it again and report back.

ETA: I looked into the version I'm using (ASW9 for RSRDC for 1.4), I don't see any ridiculous hit points in the new planes added; existing planes don't have any changes at all to their .zon files, which means they have stock hit points. I don't think the version I'm using is any different to versions for 1.5, so it must be a mod conflict somewhere. Either that, or are you, by any chance, using TMaru? I know Ducimus has upped the hit points of the planes through changes in the zones.cfg file (and maybe .zon? Never checked that, I'm afraid).
BTW, the latest version of ASW is 9, go grab it here (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=131709).

ETA#2: If you're indeed using TMaru, you can easily tweak the plane's hit points by editing the zones.cfg file. It's in YourGameInstallationFolder\Data\. MAKE A BACKUP FIRST!!! The airplane entries are towards the end of that file. Just change all HitPoints values pertaining to aircraft to one to your liking. I'd suggest reducing the number by 25% for a start, and adjust accordingly. For ease of use, make a JSGME-compatible "mini-mod" with just the tweaked zones.cfg file. A word of caution: make sure you're in port while you're doing any changes to that file! Oh, and if you ARE using TMaru, take note: you'll need ASW9 FOR TM, not STANDARD!
