Downloaded SH3Cmdr.3.1 and hope it will work together with GWX.

Yes 3.1 works fine with GWX 2.1

God dammit! I'm starting to believe my luck with GWX 2.1 keens to ******* with me a lot :damn:

I started my second patrol from Konigsberg in September 1 at 1:00, from the very begining I started to get "Radio message received" flood telling: The base was changed to: Kiel, next message: The base was changed to: Konigsberg and so on and on 3 new meesages per minute. wtf.. Somebody in BDU can't make up with their minds about the base ? :lol: Don't tell me it's a malfunction thing, cus I'm not going to believe it anyway:))

I'm canceling my patrol now or this message received message is going to drive me nuts :doh:

Updated:

Problem seems to occur again after starting a new patrol from Kiel. After pressing "Load saved career" table pops up with message, Base is changed to: Konigsberg. After pressing OK, another pop up appears telling: Base was changed to: Kiel

OK i'm done with explorations, going to uninstall ir fully and make fresh clean install, maybe that is going to help somehow..

Did your first patrol commence August 1st. You should then get a message after training advising you to return to base. Upon ending patrol you can either transfer to the 1st or 2nd flotillas

I have removed the 3 patrols\6 months between transfers so you are free to transfer after every patrol if you feel like it

That's right I started my career on the 1-st of August after receiving message I hited ESC and returned to base in Konigsberg, but my second patrol began at september the first in Konigsberg, I think it's becouse I'm using "randomised number of days spent in base" on sh3 commander.

oh I see now where the snake lies :) Ahm.. could u explain pls why it is so necessery to make transfer to other flotilla ? I know I want to be in 7/13 flotilla so it's somehow a bit... inconvenient :hmm:

So far, problems are solved. :smug:

1) I should really really read instructions. :shifty:

2) moving SH3 to another disk and out of Program Files did solve all the troubles and performance issues.

Thanks for the bugfixes and the new things.

I have played 5 missionīs from August 1939 and i have not seen all the new things.
The beginning at August 1939 is a nice update. The new moon is cool and i like the open hatch mod very much. The Laboe Naval Memorial is very nice, especially in the night. The Real Weather Fix Mod is a great improvement for the gameplay, very good. The new sound of torpedo doors opening is great. The smoke improvements and the u-boat update chart are very nice.

I thank all gwx members for the hard work.

This time as a temporary base I selected Wilhelmshawen but I think this does not matter :)

I got patrol grid BF 18 so I used Dover canal for free run :lol: It Woun't happen again since the war broke out! :smug:

Ahm.. one short question: If number of days in base option is selected will it count in days spent for U-boat upgrades to install ?

The manual says that there's an open hatch between the COMMAND ROOM and the ENGINE ROOM.

The engine room's hatch is on the opposite side of the hatch for the radioroom, and for what I've checked, its not open at all, with the mod installed.

Was that an error on the manual?

I don't think so, the copy of the manual I have says this:

Because it wasn't finished in time.

Soon as a type IX open hatch mod is done, it will be released here on subsim and officially hosted on the GWX website. :up:

I too am eagerly awaiting DD to finish this one as well. :D

The time added for upgrades should be in addition to your default stopover time.

Hi!

The typo is in the list of changes in V2.1, towards the beginning of the manual. That list was copied directly to the initial post. That hatch that is open is the forward hatch for Type VII U-boats, leading into the Captain's bunk/radio operator room/hydrophone operator room.

Fair play to you for including Diving Ducks original open hatch work, definately adds to the immersion whilst enduring DC attacks in the control room. Just wondering though, is there anyway to move the default viewing point a little to the left in a VIIc as the scope blocks the open hatch view quite a bit ?

Alternatively, is it possible to move the scope or lose it altogether ?

Just wanted to mention that in regard to an earlier post on this thread I WAS able to rollback SH Commander 2.7, remove the mods in JSGME, update to 2.1, and load 3.1. I dumped the files for 3.0 into their directories, and started up SH3. No issues, continued with leaving port for Patrol 13 in Jan. 1941.

Nice work guys.. I didn't get to read the entire manual yet, but i did read the changes.

I didn't see anything about the hatch thing, and i did load the mod in JSGME, but haven't figured out how it works yet..

This would probably be possible for someone with hex editing skills. Diving Duck did something like this for the bridge position using TT's mini-tweaker.

However,a quick and easy solution would be to use "Shift+F2". If you press this combo you can move wherever you want by using mouse for direction and arrow keys for movement.

Each time you use this combination thereafter you will return to the same position - provided you haven't used it to go elsewhere.

It seems to be working for my VIIB, as well. Its the U-45, still going months after October 14, 1939, thank you very much.

Sounds like RTFM time again.

From page 66 of the manual:
This option leaves that hatch open in all Type VII (VIIB, VIIC, VIIC/41, and VIIC/42) U-boats, so that you can see through the open watertight door into the next compartment.
Since it was Jim, I assume he meant Type VIIs as opposed to Type IXs, not just the VIIC.

I read someone elses post asking the same question and if I remember correctly this was not implemented as it seemed to cause a couple of problems. Having said that I've installed it on the off chance and all seems OK so far, so you can always take the gamble...:hmm:

i hate to be "that guy" but according to the install instructions posted above we have to start this install process all over from scratch... does this include those of us who already have GWX2.0 installed on a clean copy of 1.4b? :-?

could it not be possible to roll back SH3 Commander, delete all careers and run the 2.1 exe?

or is that scenario acceptable.

Went back to the recommended GWX install process and no problems.:rock:

Thats all I did. Didn't uninstall anything just got rid of my careers and took off the mods I'm using JSGME. Patched 2.1 over the top of sh3 1.4b and gwx2.0. worked fine for me. I've put all my mods back on again and the game works great.

Thats all I did. Didn't uninstall anything just got rid of my careers and took off the mods I'm using JSGME. Patched 2.1 over the top of sh3 1.4b and gwx2.0. worked fine for me. I've put all my mods back on again and the game works great.

It works for some and not for others.....the clean install is what's key.

FWIW, it worked for me too :lol:

HI GWX team!!! Once again you all have outdone yourselves.

One question (ok maybe 2 questions)... after following the instructions in the first post to a T I noticed a .txt file on my desktop after installing up to GWX2.1...

GWXInstErr.exe.txt In it it says

DEBUG: Test 1 FAILED
DEBUG: Test 2 FAILED Version is
DEBUG: Test 3 FAILED
DEBUG: Test 4 Seems to have PASSED IF Size is not Zero - Size is 0
DEBUG: Test 5 Seems to have PASSED IF Size is not Zero - Size is 0
DEBUG: Test 6 Seems to have PASSED IF Size is not Zero - Size is 0
At least one of the tests failed

Game seems to run fine though.... should I be worried??

Question Number 2:

I installed SH3Commander (ver 3.1) and downloaded the GWX files for SH3 commander. The readme says to unzip all the contents directly into the SH3Commander/Cfg file. When I do this it puts a folder in the cfg folder called "GWX_2.1_Cfg_4_SH3Cmdr3.0". In this folder are the folders named "cfg" "Flotilla" and "Uboat" as well as the readme.

Is this right?

LOL...no problem :)

I just did a patrol and everything seemed fine heh heh... seemed being the operative word. Hope adding these files to SH3 commander doesnt mess it up now :)

Edit: Ok so I unzipped (actually WinRAR) the file in teh SH3Commander folder and it just adds a folder called "GWX_2.1_Cfg_4_SH3Cmdr3.0" in there. Heh heh.. I was worried about my question making sense :) I did use the extract here in WinRAR and the result was RAR just making a folder with the name of the RAR in teh SH3Commander folder.

I think I did it right. I just manually unzipped each of the contents of the GWX SH3Commander files into the respective folders in SH3 Commander.

Not sure why I had a problem this time, as this is not the first time I have used the SH3 - GWX update files (been playing GWX since ver 1.0).

Maybe its just the difference between using WinRAR (I much prefer WinZip but my free trial expired and now WinZip wouldnt work in "trial" mode).

Anywho, I think I got it. Thanks for your help BBW.

Now what about that GWxErr.txt question for anyone that would know... I would hate to get 3 or 4 patrols in only to find out my GWX install is borked.

Try without the LRT and Lifeboats mods enabled and then let me know if the emblems are ok

You can re enable the other 2 after a couple of patrols as long as you are in port
Just need a clean 2.1 to find out :up:

Re-supply at sea via milch cow and tankers...yes.

The radio traffic depends on what you consider to be true....A great many of the messages are from original transcripts, but many are still meant for immersion purposes only.

There is a mod 'GWX2.1 Mission Orders' available which allows you to be informed of historically accurate naval missions/events that are scripted into the mod.

Bdu sends you one of 3 messages in reply to your patrol reports

Ingame radio messages are sent to all boats and contain a very high number of historical messages sent in WW2 along with informative ones re bases\resupply etc

Have been using GWX 2.0 for some time and installed 2.1 after your mysterious absence from net. I have followed all the recommended install procedures more than once and frustratingly get same message that is GWX files not found. Could anyone help please so I too can enjoy this wonderful Mod.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have followed instructions about 4 times now first installing from cd then patch to 1.4 then gwx 2.0 have cleared sh3 files out of documents and removed Mod files. Gwx 103 recognises GWX as being present but GWX 2.1 is saying GWX not present?

If they are not there,
the installer fails.
You have not removed anything or added any mods to a

I am in Jan. 1944 , 3RD/11th Flotilla Tried to get the XXI which was offered .Got the XXI.When the game comes to life , it tells me radar & the radar antenna destroyed . When you go to the radio room , there is no radar scope.It only offers the one radar" Radar64". I've had the 61 radar before but it does not offer it to me. Any suggestions ?

Hello, have been playing gwx 2.1 for a few months and just love it - My gratuitous thanks to the awesome and honourable GWX Team! :D :D :D

I seem to have a minor glitch: The rose compass I see when I zoom in on the map is not properly centred.

Am wondering, what files define the rose compass? is it a text/ini file or a picture/tga file? If the former I could try edit it manually...

P.S. In a hurry, could only read through last 3 pages of posts, saw nothing mentioning my problem so assume no one else has it.

I have a question on installing the 2.1+AOTD fix... should I apply it via JSGME after I apply the various GWX sub-mods?

So, the order would be :
- SH3
- Patch 1.4b
- GWX 2.0
- GWX 2.1
- Apply sub-mods
- Apply 2.1+AOTD bugfixes

And what if I wish to use OLCE's graphic mod (not the GUI)? Should I apply them in this order?

Big thanks to the GWX team and every one in this community. Its people like you who make PC gaming what it is.

I was anxiously waiting for this game to come out and when it finally did it was for the most part crap. Not even map tools. Quickly the community got to work and started to churn things out and now coming back after a few years its a whole new game!.

So again I have to say thank you GWX and everyone one else who churned something out small or big for this game. Because it really made the difference!

Quick question for you all. Is it wise to go through the English Canal in GWX. It just seems to me the best possible route but certainly not the safest. Usually, I go between Scapa Flow and Lerwick. My patrol area is BF area. I am doing it right now but wanted to get your take on it. A very slow process too many warships, LOL!!!

Most odd.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that the files you installed for commander are 2.0 files not 2.1 files.

Because 2.1 definately features August start dates. I have uploaded the 2.1 cfg files, stick them in and try. if not you will need a new flotilla Cfg... Which I can also provide.:up:

I do not know. I did so many clean installs of SH3Cmdr that something finally clicked. It could be something with the fact that I usually do not use shortcuts in start menu usually to start things (I was starting from the directory instead). I just know that I started it with the start menu this last time and it actually worked. no idea why that would be different than starting from the main exe in the install directory.

I patrolled the whole area don't find place to patrol, I am making career in this flotilla to have a more little of experience, because I almost play with total realism.

Hello there,

i have a question about side-effects + compatibility of AOTD-Schleuse-BUGFIX:

when i have activated the bugfix and try to activate "merged campaign" or other campaign-related GWX-mods, then these "older" mods will overwrite newer mission-related files from the bugfix. one side-effect i expect is, that the new ships and locks (holtenau, brunsbuettel) of the bugfix are deleted. i can live with that.

what i ask you: are there other expected side effects? or do you recommend disabling the bugfix when i want to play otherwhere than the atlantic.......

Each & every war starts out the same where I can't hit anything then after awhile I hit everything. I have played several wars & at the beginning of the war I can't seem to hit anything with a torpedo. Does GWX 2.1 incorporate into the game that you have any dud torpedo's cause after a few months I don't miss one?

I believe GWX 2.1 only rewards renown points for ships sank. My curiousity is why when I am within 2300 meters of a enemy convoy & have had several contacts reported by the watch crew it will not send any contact reports? The important thing for me is that I loose out in attracting enemy aircraft which I like to go to combat with. With no contact reports no enemy aircraft.

If you are within visual range and your radio man is not fatigued, you shold experience no problem.

Another parameter taken into account is the distance to the nearest friendly airbase and the percentage chance of airpower being sent.

After that open the d3d9.cfg and change the resolution to what you want.

No this cannot happen because GWX changes a vast amount of files. More information you can get from the people who actually created the installer.

Could be very handy option to install it via JSGME.

That is possible if theres only files copied over
and no editing done by the installer itself.

I got lotsa space on hard drive and I like to apply mods via JSGME.

If there is no new updates coming for SH3 anymore

Could be very handy option to install it via JSGME.

That is possible if theres only files copied over
and no editing done by the installer itself.

I got lotsa space on hard drive and I like to apply mods via JSGME.

If there is no new updates coming for SH3 anymore

Why not just use Multi-SH3 to make an extra SH3 installation?
It wouldn't use much more disk space, and you wouldn't have the hassle of enabling/disabling the whole of GWX in JSGME.

You could extract it
There are ways
BUT
The installer has a built in checker
If it finds an install anything other than stock it will give you an error message and abort
JSGME it in over a modded install and you will have no end of problems

As OLC said

Anyhoo, t'was an idea I just wanted to throw out here,
incase there's a new installed coming up.
Now that I know that the installer does not edit files then
I can easily make GWX 2.1 MOD folder and apply it from there.

And there's probably more out there but those I got installed allready in this PC.

They refelect the year your sub is sailing in....as well as the Frequency of the Single ships?
I've been off the Coast of Ireland Sept,1940 for about 30 days and havent run into a Convoy or a Single Merchant.

If you are talking about the "merchant lanes" on the stock SH3 map, then they give a general route where merchants or convoys travel.

Are you using GWX? That could have an effect on the travel routes somewhat. If you want accurate convoy routes check this link.

No you need them as well but they are not critical for the game stability

I am using GWX2.0 , GXW2.1 , GWX3.0 , SH3 , SH3`s with mega mods.

Thanks Fubar. At least Mediafire is accessable to those of us that can't get on GameFront. And it's not my computer cauing it... I've checked my Security settings and Firewall. Neither is the cause. Even the Firewall turned off for the time it takes to connect wasn't the problem... still could not connect to GameFront.

If I had the nerve I'd make a request that modders use MediaFire or something other than GF from now on. But I know that would go over like a lead torpedo.
