Hi guys...
Can anyone of you gentleman upload for me SOUND.ACT file?
My game is crashing to desktop in the middle of the loading (the first loading part) and it say that it's an error on sound.act file. Even with all mods disabled, still CTD on that file. I don't want to reinstall all over again, game+gwx, quite 2 hours of boring instalations... can someone help me with this?
Thanks in advance!

Unless you messed with the sound.act file?
That's not your problem and I doubt it will fix it.
But I'll up it and post the link.

Yeah, the game is still crashing all right... :damn:
I started a carrer yesterday and all went flawlessly for about one and a half hour, I was returning to base and then out of the blue CTD! Today the game wont even start. And I didnt mod anything from yesterday to now, only a few changes on the waves in scene.dat.
This is why I mod more then I play, those CTD are REEEEEEAAALLY dismotivating... It probably my old computer. Its the recommended rig to run stock SH3, which I've never had a CTD. But since GWX 2.0, CTD are all Im getting (not saying its GWX fault, Im just saying this maybe too heavy for my rig, causing ctds...)
Boy this really sucks...

If your at min specs that may be the major problem but I doubt it.
I run at min specs with no problems until I create them.
It's VERY easy when modding to change a file in an install, then forget you did so.
I do it all the time, and I SHOULD know better!
:nope:
Heck!
I found out I had 2 installs I forgot about!!!
:damn:
And I've been running 10 installs!!!

But that was not the case here... I removed EVERY SINGLE MOD from JSGME, running only SH3+GWX 2.0 and still CTD on that sound.act file.
Besides, I didn't change anything related to sound from yesterday, only a couple of .sim files (modifications on dials that I've done before and they work no problem), so whatta hell this had to do with sound.act file? I didn't even knew that this stinking file existed until now...
Im reinstalling all over again... :damn:

About my specs, they are:
StinkinŽ Athlon XP 3000+ @2000mhz
StinkinŽ 1 GB DDR 333 (2x 512 @dual channel)
StinkinŽ 80 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM
StinkinŽ MSI K7N2-Delta Premium Motherboard
StinkinŽ GeForce FX 5700LE 256mb (250mhz 3D CPU, 400mhz memory)
StinkinŽ 15" CRT LG StudioWorks with a very grave brightness issue.
You can see, all from the "StinkinŽ" Brand, which I don't recommend. The only think I'm proud of is my 17.1 speaker system, which in this case makes no difference...

We are pretty close on specs.

I can not stress enuff to up the ram!

MY FRIEND, SHARE A GOOD LAUGH WITH ME NOW!!!

FOUND THE PROBLEM!!!
Windows update have installed a new driver to my audiocard, and it didn't chew it very nicely, so my audiocard was on halt. If I had put some Enigma to play (like I do everynight) I would have noticed no sound coming out of the speakers, and I wouldn't have reinstalled the game all over again (which I did :damn: ). But that wasn't all bad, it helped me to find the problem, when the window poped-up showing me the hardware check for the sh3 minimum and recommended settings.
I told you that this CTD wasn't caused by me. While modding, I'm almost always aware when Im hitting a softspot for the game to crash, and when it does I already know what I did wrong.
Thanks anyway, man!
Now lets all laugh a little and have a drink, on me! :()1:

:rotfl:
Windows update have installed a new driver to my audiocard
I hate so much windows update that I finally opted to disable it, last week I had my work computer rendering a video (two hours render with about 20' to go), I have time so I decided to go get some coffe... meantimes windows update finished installing some useless stuff and decided by it's own that it was ok to reboot the computer, so when I get back I've lost all the work I was doing, leading to not being able to deliver the work in time :damn:

Trust what privateer says on this, Philipp. :know:
Your motherboard and CPU are better than mine (Athlon XP 2400+ on an MSI KT4V) but my vid card is better and I have 2GB of PC 2700 (DDR333) RAM.
Adding an extra 1GB of memory would help you tremedously. SH3+GWX loads a bit faster and your system lags a lot less because Windows has enough memory that it doesn't need to keep swapping stuff around from the Virtual Memory on the hard drive.
Even with my ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512MB video card, my system would still lag and take a long time to load stuff from SH3, until I upgraded my RAM. The more 3D objects and other effects you have to load into a scene in the game, the worse it gets.
It's not so much that SH3 is memory hog as it is WinXP. If you've noticed, having 1GB of RAM installed, Windows will use anywhere from 30-40% of it for itself and any background applications you have running, like antivirus, firewall, etc. It helps if you disable any Services you don't need and shut down any background programs you can do without.
So get that RAM, especially if you want to really enjoy that Lifeboat mod! :yep:
Then grab a better video card when you're able to afford one as it will allow you to use all the eye-candy your heart desires.
