Umm,what is an easter egg??
I mean I know what an easter egg is,but in the sim I do not:doh:
A Easter egg is an intentional hidden message or feature in an object such as a movie, book, CD, DVD, computer program, or video game. The term draws a parallel with the custom of the Easter egg hunt observed in many western nations.

This practice is analogous to hidden signature motifs such as Diego Rivera including himself in his murals or Alfred Hitchcock's legendary cameo appearances.

An early example of these kind of "Easter eggs" is Al Hirschfeld's "Nina." Atari's Adventure, released in 1979, contained what is thought to be the first video game "Easter egg": the name of the programmer (Warren Robinett).

In computer programming, the underlying motivation is often to put an individual, almost artistic touch on an intellectual product which is by its nature standardised and functional.

So in Venatore's pub talk, its hiding things in a game [pictures, logos, objects etc] so the player either stumbles on them by pure accident, or the player has been told Easter Eggs exist within the game, like searching for the Holy Grail.

It it looks like one has been located.

Hi everyone Nice to meet you all. This is my first post.
I read the posts on the ghost ship in the triangle. It is a shame that thread seemed to drop off the edge of the map. A good treasure hunt adventure(s) sounds rather nice. A good way to take a break from all this War (tongue in cheek) . Its also a good way of promoting the sub culture to my friends and get them interested in SHIII, GWX, and Subsim.
Anyway, Since noone has citied all the eggs in one place, and in the hopes that the maker's work shall not be soon forgotten (SHV. Tongue in cheek again), I beg the drunk man or whomever i must for some type of cryptic 'treasure map' of these things. Something to find, and yet something to figure out as well. Just a thought.
Question to anyone: Has anyone combed Scotland for an easter egg that very few people catch on camera? Or say, is there a statue of Christ underwater near Brazil? And what about all this hush hush talk about some high fallutin' casino in the antarctic? is that where we keep the UFO's ? Oh pardon me Himmler, i meant to say dinosaurs. Either way, I want one, count me in.
All the best to everyone, Ive been reading your posts for years. Where I've been: that's another story. SHII, SHIII

Thanks Mates! :salute: And thank you Steve! I been Jonah hexX for 7+ years now. I chose the name amidst all the first person shooters i played, as Jonah Hex was the roughest toughest gun anywhere. Here, on the other hand, Id like to emphasize the 'Jonah' and minimize the 'HexX'. Its still a good nautical name, i think. It has an alternate meaning of 'the curse from the one who is cursed at sea'. howbeit eerie or macabre, I can live with that. And how appropriate that my first post was on a thread about the ghost ship Cyclops ... ?
Has anyone seen the Mary Celeste, the Kraken, Nessie or any mermaids? I figure its worth asking, as we dont know what or where the easter eggs are.
The sea, constantly powered by electrical storms yet tamed by gravity and kept within our natural magnetic field, is one giant Leydon jar saltwater battery. Conducting this energy in ways still a mystery to us, it is little wonder why mysterious things happen there, and mysterious things are reported to be seen.

not to tear from this thread, but i must ask a question. Has anyone here ever stood at thier conning tower at night in so-so weather, looked out upon the water, and for a split second you think you see something. Not a ship or a sub, but something emerging from the ocean about a foot or 2? Then you realise it was just a shadow on a wave. Goosebumps for 5 seconds, and your heart sinks from your throat back down into your chest. You know it was nothng, but for an instant you thought you saw something alive. Somethng you know good and well that was never put in the game (?). Im a grown man, for heavens sake, but this happens to me , every now and then. has this ever happened to anyone else here?:hmmm:

A moment of silence for all those who looked out, and saw something real.

Not to me, but I was on the real sea for a time, and never saw anything there either. Maybe my imagination just dried up and blew away. I'm the guy who actually has more fun sailing in and out of the harbors than stalking ships. :D

Oh Boy, talk about being clueless.

I saw that particular box too. But never had the brain-cells nor the IQ to think this could be an easter-egg.:wah:

I was thinking this was just an turm-emblem on a box!:88)

This annoys me even more, considering that I came across the frigging box, but have yet to spot a whale or Dolphin.

Jonah HexX
12-02-11, 11:58 AM
Yeah I've never seen the whales or dolphins either. But I spend my time around south england and the meditteranian, and i think the manual says they are found more north. The real question is who's side they are on. its very unclear, and i suspect not all whales and dolphins have the same allegiance. Mr dolphin, Papers Please.
Does Jonah have something against whales? Yup. They dont have cable or toilet paper.:O: I want to paint my boat up like a whale shark. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_owk9ZPoUMY&feature=related

ok Privateer, is this 'channel egg' on sea floor or is it suspended in the water? can I hear it or detect it? The location of this item, is the position signifgant in general history, signifigant to WWII, or signifigant to the Ubootswaffe? or perhaps random?
Ports are so dangerous you know, and we are advised against saving game within or around ports because of crashing issues. The channel is perilous, but certain parts of the channel are definitely safer than others. i suppose what im trying to ask is, if i knew exactly where this thing was, and i was mindful of all the patrol craft, would i still be gambling my boat and crew getting to it? sneaking around is relatively easy. combing the shores and seafloor is different.
would night and day matter in whether i saw it? silly question i suppose. Switching back to the pretty meditteranian water, as it seems to provide more visibility. Somehow i get the feeling a type II may be best suited for looking for this one. With the hints youve given, i assume that im not looking for something like a pawprint texture, but an object. Imagine all the money i could make just looking for spare change. trying to be optimistic.:yep:
