Ok i spent the weekend tracing down sub names and classes the boats went to. I also found found boats that were completed just after WW2l Here is a list of changes i am planing to put in new roster files for TMO for 1.5. The changes will be made if i can figure out how to change the war's ending date.
The four following boats are suppose to be GATO class boats:
USS Golet (SS-361) listed as Balao in roster
USS Guavina (SS-362) listed as Balao in roster
USS Guitarro (SS-363) listed as Balao in roster
USS Hammerhead (SS-364) listed as Balao in roster
This change to the GATO roster would give all 77 boats in the GATO class
My source for this change is both from Navsource.org and from the book "The Fleet Submarine in the US Navy"
Next suggested change would be to add the following to the Balao roster
“USS Cusk (SS-348) DOC=19460205 DOD=19710117”
“USS Diodon (SS-349) DOC=19460517 DOD=19720512”
“USS Dogfish (SS-350) DOC=19460429 DOD=19720728”
“USS Greenfish (SS-351) DOC=19460607 DOD=19731219”
“USS Halfbeak (SS-352) DOC=19460722 DOC=19710701”
“USS Trumpetfish (SS-425) DOC=19460129 DOD=19731015”
“USS Tusk (SS-426) DOC=19460313 DOD 19731018”
These seven boats would bring the total up to the completed 119 boats to the wartime Balao class plans. There was one other boat completed in 1949 to Guppy II standared using the hull of the suspended construction contract for TIRU (SS-416)
In the Tench file I intend to add the following boats.
“USS Remora (SS-487) DOC=19460103 DOD=19731029”
“USS Sarda (SS-488) DOC=19460416 DOD=19640601”
“USS Spinax (SS-489) DOC=19460920 DOD=19691011”
“USS Pompano (SS-491) DOC=19461001 DOD=19681205” actually cancelled
“USS Wahoo (SS-516) DOC=19460420 DOD=19640101” actually cancelled
“USS Amberjack (SS-522) DOC=19460304 DOD=19731017”
I added the two cancelled boats to the roster because i love thier names. This would bring the total of TENCH class boats to 27. There were three other TENCH class boats completed as GUPPY II submarines. The three were Grumpus (SS-523), Pickerel (SS-524), and Grenadier (SS-525)
