I think that he deserves the Victoria Cross.
There certainly has been at least one VC awarded for that, in Hong Kong, but it was posthumous. Sadly, although the level of bravery is not one whit less, I suspect the staffazoids and bureaucrats will somehow count his survival against it.
This is by no means limited to any one country. I was surfing a US site on Medals of Honour citations. It got damned depressing - every other one from Vietnam was, "...threw himself on grenade... posthumous'. Yike!

This man is a credit to the Royal Marines and I sincerely hope he is awarded the VC. If the award was up for public poll as to the winner he would get my vote.:up:
