The last couple of months I've been having a great deal of fun (aggravating as it can be now and then! :p ) working on little mods for SHIII. But, in all honesty, I've only managed to do so because of skwasjer and his Silent 3ditor.

I have no idea how you guys managed to do this (and stay sane) using straight hex. And without Silent 3ditor I couldn't have done a blessed thing. skwasjer has helped me a great deal when I've had questions, even though he's buried with a lot of his own projects. And because of his Silent 3editor, he's opened up the mod world to a lot of us, myself included.

Thanks skwasjer!

I agree totally. S3D is now probably better than any possible SDK tool. We need to thanks Skwasjer so much.
And as Mikhayl recall what make this comunity great and grows in numbers and technically is just because we have (and is necessary to mantain) the freedom to create (no policy politics what is just ridiculous IMO), the support for all members that needs it and the always primordial respect between each others.

S3D was made with this spirit. This is what it is so great.

Thank You, to all the modders out there doing what they do. SH3 has come a very long way from stock game to being there on the bridge feeling the the mist and waves splashing in your face. I can do hardware, but software/modding, a brick has more intel than I do:damn: Also a big thanks to Neal and this great subsim commuity!

Thanks for the kind words, you are all welcome!!

Using a hex editor is not for everyone. You don't need talent for it, just patience (a whole lot!!) and a bit of a technical mindset. In fact, I personally hate hex editors ;) (although I need to use one, not just for this game).

Making S3D has been very enjoyable for that reason. Modding to me is not about knowing how a file is layed out. It is about adjusting gameplay, adding content, and in general just improve or change the game, etc. Since I'm no artist myself, I just figured I'd make a program that allows this in a much easier way. It's great to see both new and old faces use my program to do just that, instead of spending time learning which byte goes where. To me that's a mission complete (well almost, still some todo's/features left :smug:).

My gratitude to everyone involved during the past year. Now let's keep modding. Good times ahead...
