You don't need to uninstall the 1.03 patch. Just install the latest patch and you're good to go.
If you want to start with a completely fresh install, you have to uninstall and reinstall the game.

Thats is what I trying to do, I have sh4 off the pc and deleted everything that went with it and tried to reinstall and it comes up with " you have uninstall 1.03 to install1.0" and then I would put in the latest patch. I did windows explorer search and it comes up with nothing for sh4, but on "add or remove programs" there is a 10.61 mb thingie of sh4, tried to remove and I get error message "sh4 has encountered a problem and needs to close" Is there a utility or program somewhere to get this off?
Is the info in this post what you're trying to do?

Good one, aanker, that thread needs to be stickificated somewhere (edit:ooooooooooooops it already is  )
@Torp III : Guess it wouldn't hurt to ask what operating system you're running, too, since Vista seems to be a recurring problem and it sure sounds like you have a fouled up uninstall.

PC is XP Pro 3.2, Pent. D 250 gig, hd 4 gig ram, Nvidia G Force 7300 GT w/ 512 mb ddr2, 600 watt p/s
I took sh4 off the pc at least 6 months ago, so doing a restore point at this time is not likly for upgrading everything from that point on will take a month to do. What happens if I deleted the reg key which may have happened cause I wanted to put on C drive directly (c:/ sh4) intead of programs file. The thing is, I am running sh3/gwx w/ a bunch of other mods for sh3 and no problems from the get go. Would d/ling the game w/ latest patch from direct 2 drive overwrite or still say I have to uninstall 1.03?
Oh, man..... something isn't deleted.
Someone recommended a reg tool that might find it. Not sure but I think it was recommended by the downbelow website called registry mechanic:
http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
That might find the remaining clutter and allow you to delete it. Too bad, I had a program that would do that in the ME days but don't have it any more.
I'm not tech support but I'm pretty sure the full version D2D would see the remaining DVD install. I hate giving registry advice. Well, anyway this bumped the thread.

You could make a restore point and follow AVGWarhawk's steps with the reg (at your own risk) ... ouch!
