I can go a patrol without without being hit a single time by a plane. Once I sink a ship, the planes then never stop coming and they hit with increased accuracy. I've noticed that the more ships I sink the more accurate the enemy becomes. Has anyone noticed this?
Would help to know what version of SH4, 1.4, 1.5, any mods that alter the air component, sensors....etc...
anywho, with more information folks will jump in to help.
Happy Hunting!

Seriously, I think it's just your imagination.
BUT, you can imagene they get better when they have a reason to revenge.

I'm running around the Indian Ocean with this blind U-Boat finding out what airplane hell is really all about! I had bad luck with airplanes at the beginning of the cruise but got better with practice in avoidance after a visual sighting. Haven't had to do that in months with a US boat!
I don't think there is any difference in accuracy though.

Download the ASW Air Layer mod. Big improvement on how often you get harrassed and raped by aircraft.

Well sinking a ship does kind of announce yoru presance.
Perhaps move off to another location?
Seriously though I have not noticed 'increased accuracy' with more ships sunk.

It is well within the bounds of real possibility. People who think they should see one or two planes per day just haven't read any submarine logs. Try a dozen times per day while yo-yoing. The guys who didn't see planes were hiding their heads in the sand all day at 1 knot, not getting the job done. They also didn't tend to keep their commands.
The air traffic I've seen in SH4UBM is fine.
I see them more often after I sink a ship (because the ship will radio in a contact.) but they don't get any more accuracy as its hard to see me when I'm 200' down.
If you are staying on the surface, you'll get more planes coming at you because they have more radio contacts. After an attack, I usually only see a few more planes and then a few hours afterwards no more than usual. Because they don't contact me anymore.

I wonder what it would be like if those aircraft had that air visual sensor people love so much in TM. :rotfl:
I do agree there should be more then a couple of planes per day, but when you up their threat level, reducing their numbers becomes a serious consideration.

Its 1.5 and I dont even have to shoot at a plane and they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Sink a ship though and suddenly they hit from way off with bombs and everything else. its like the devs wanted to make your life misserable all the way back to base and prevent you from getting a succesful patrol.

Often look calculated. We have a humanized expectation of what randomness should look like that is completely wrong. A random sequence of a million digits likely somewhere contains 10 zeros in a row. We'd look at the sequence of zeros and say "that's not random." We'd be wrong.
This looks like a random comment. It is not.
