Hi, I have been working on getting lighter nights as some people with LCD monitors have complained about the very dark nights, or like me, prefer to have the Gamma down for normal use.:yep: This is a beta test with 2 variations to choose from, at this point it is only for 16k but will do an 8k later, here are some shots:
Normal:

at 55%

Please post comments, note the percentages are for my benefit.:yep:

reece

this would be great mate..all the workrounds ive tried for this prob on my lcd havent helped.

your screens look very promising and i for one would be very grateful for your hard work.

ive resorted to upping the brightness just now...but it looks daft in other stations apart from the bridge.

im using 8km as 16km sunk my fps.

so i'l be waiting with baited breath mate:up:

I'm just waiting for some replies as to whether anyone has found any bugs and whether it is too bright or too dark still!:yep:
As it is though, standard 8k GWX & Markimovs, is much brighter:

So I may have to bring the brightness up higher in the 16k.:-?

Well after even more experimenting this is the brightest I can go for 16k and it is the supplied 60%:

Sorry, but it's better than standard 16k!

Just curious:
Is this a work of the SH4 scene or a SH3 scene?

And the screens:
what time of the night is this: early, mid or late
where on the planet was it made and which season?

I know, I know pain in the @$$ questions, but nevertheless interesting to know...

Nothing to do with any scene, the screens are all at the same time and place, same clouds etc, it's an edited navigation academy, the main thing is just to compare the normal & 60% (max), this will work with any 16k atmosphere.:yep:

Reece,

Can you also create one for 8k atmosphere as well  this looks bloody fantastic I've been wating for this mod to solve my problem too.

The 8k atmosphere originally done by Markimov for the 8k atmosphere & adopted into the GWX 8k atmosphere is at it's max already, so now is the 16k, although the 16k is not as light as I would like to get it but at the moment it's the best I can do!:yep:

Hi Reese,I want to thank you for this,I am using the OLCE and GWX 2,it seemed to dark with this LCD,but I have been using the 60% 16k and it seems perfect for me,I have been using it for a few days now with no problems..Thank you very much for your hard work:up:

60% for 16k seems perfect (for me). Thank you very much for your effort.

This is a game, and is good when we can see what we play...

Thank you also for your download page (filefront).

A belated thanks for this Reece

On my LCD (also with gamma down a bit) I could hardly see the other crewmen never mind distant ships, so will definitley give this a go.

So not any particular problem I guess to use it with your other fine mod SHIV_Scene_for_SH3_16k_v3b (http://files.filefront.com/SHIV+Scene+for+SH3+16k+v3brar/;10000633;/fileinfo.html) cause it is true that nights are really dark these days ... :yep:

Thx folks

"...really dark these days..." ;)

Like your way of exspressing the things... :rotfl:

I can't survave night raid in 42/43 without some basic visibility... feel like a stone pigeon :dead:

Hope it works with latest OLCE...

Many Thanks Reece

Hi

My Monitor is at night blind. Or i´m blind.:D
Can i use the nice mod with gwx 2.1?

Probably a good thing for modern monitors, but my old CRT likes the darker nights created by the new mods. I've always found it too easy to see at night.:sunny:

@Sailor Steve
My CRT monitor is 8 years old. I can see the ships at 800-1000 meters in the night, i think that is a problem of the old monitor. The monitor brightness is to low after the years. I think you have a good old monitor and i a bad one.:)

@ Reece
Thank you for the answer and for your nice mod.

You may be right. I worded it the way I did because the problem of it being to dark seems to affect the new flat-screen monitors more than any others. I'm actually dreading the day I have to get one, because I don't want to have the same complaints others are having.

Anyway, kudos to Reece for coming up with a fix.
