[REQ] Typ XXI in 1939

Now I know all will shout "there is this mod already... use the search function"... nope! this is not what I need/want/request

I want the XXI... plain and simple... just the XXI and nothing more.

the mod that is out there seems to me to add some more things... more crew etc.

I just want to be able to select and buy the XXI from the beginning of the war... what file to alter and how to do it?

Basic.cfg = change avaliability dates of the XXI all to 1939, including this equipment (think about renown)
Flotilla.cfg = include the type XXI to the flotilla you want

These .cfg files are really easy to edit, just open them, read a little and you'll understand!

its quite a boring and pissingoff workout this copying and pasting and editing sh!t

i usually save my .cfg file on a backup folder once i've made a lot of modff coz it suxs to do all again.

If you have GWX2 and want a XXI in 1939, I would reccomend this excellent tool for JSGME. It took me ages and a really obscure google search to find it, but it was worth it! http://files.filefront.com/XXI1939JSGME7z/;9261080;/fileinfo.html

thanks for the link but I think thayt is exactly what I was not looking for as... as far as I remeber this also makes the XXI a "superboat" with all too many crew men etc.

Maybe I am am wrong...

Hmm... this mod seems really broken to me... there is an unlimited number of crewmembers you can hire and most of all the equipment you need for the xxi isn't available yet. Not much use driving around in a high tech boat if the lookout on the bridge is your only way of spotting enemy ships.

Well anyhow, I tried to change all things in the flotilla and base.dat by hand after this and now I could really install the advanced radar, sonar etc. but after I started a patrol I was still bling - neither the radar nor the listening apparatus could pick up anything...

Back to my old trusty type II :arrgh!:

Nope, the mod didn't turn the XXI into a superboat for me. Its a plain, normal Uboat. Yes, you can recruit a total of 140 PO's and seamen but thats only for people who want seamen, and no PO's and vice-versa.

And theres no point buying any extra equipment for it in the early war, because it comes fully pimped out with everything you can already get anyway.:rock:

Well, obviously, I don't post too often. That being said, if you down load the above mentioned mod, the readme file contains Jim's original instructions on how to make this fit to taste. This boat is NOT "pimped." It simply has the items which were on the type XXI. I usually run it with 30 seamen and 30 POs. It is just for fun, and I still have a career going with it in GWX 2.

Well, not "pimped" exactly. As CNemo said it just comes with everything a XXI came with anyway.
