I just installed Pacific environments yesterday and I notice that the water has a subtle giggle to it. Is that the nature of the water, do i need a patch or did i install wrong. I also have a few extra ROW files running could that be it.

It's alright. I knew what you meant, but I just had to get a little joke in there. ;)

Your avatar will change as your number of posts increases.

The problem is in the scene.dat file under EnvData properties/Supress Waves/ Small waves = 5E - 05 . If i change that number then the jiggling dissapears and the ocean is nearly completly flat . So it is a matter of finding out what the hell 5E - 05 means and adjusting to a new one . Thats the holy grail of wave mods .

That isn't exponential notation, is it?

I have the same mod installed and I don't see jiggles, giggles or RDP doing a jig. Did you come out of TC? That jello effect happens when you TC for a long period.

Okay, that is what causes jiggles. Once you get them without reloading the game is there any sequence of things you can do to stop them?

By the way, mine seem to happen prior to an TC; just jumping to the bridge.

For the moment, I just try to ignore them.

Thanks.

I always TC at 1024x (yeah, I'm impatient) and what I do is on the map I hit the pause button for a few seconds, then go to the inside of the boat, then go look outside. Most of the time the jiggles go away. If not I just let the game run at normal speed and after a while it returns to normal.

He is talking about the "0' wind state where the water jiggles , not the jello water you sometimes get . There is a diffrence between jiggly and jello water ya know .

No, I didn't know that there was a difference between jello and jiggle water.

Maybe that's why when I tried the put back the stock scene.dat, I didn't notice any improvement! :)

This is scientific notation for 0,00005. Just type in 0,0004 for example and watch S3D change it to 4E-05. I just use standard windows formatting rules...

You call that impatient? In SH3 I used to run at 4096! I called 1024 dead slow.:rotfl:
