I asked FooFighters if it would be ok and he said it was so here goes. I use Trigger Maru Overhauled (v1.4 of the game) with the RSRD campaign files. I really like his high res skins. I don't know if I could ever go back to using the stock skins. I also liked how the game gave you black skins at the start and then gray ones later. What I did was rearrange FooFighters' awesome skins so that the game will give you a high res black skin and then a high res gray skin at the right time. The Tench also has a high res skin. I read that it was based on the Balao, so I renamed a high res Balao skin to work with the Tench. I don't see any ill-effects. These are just my favorite skins of his included. I had done this initially for just myself but thought others may want it. Stupid me forgot to put a readme in the file, but I don't think it really needs one, just place it in the JSGME Mods folder and activate.

Here's the thread where all his skins can be found.

I keep getting this error when I go to extract the file:
C:\Documents and Settings\Brian\My Documents\Downloads\FooBors_High_Res_skins_wiy.rar : CRC failed in FooBor's High Res skins with black and gray\Data\Textures\TNormal\tex\NSS_TamborTower_T01 .dds. The file is corrupt
I've downloaded and tried the zip twice.

You're right, it is borked. It's my stupid connection. It is unstable. This happens just about every night. It drives me nuts. I will try uploading again tomorrow when it becomes more stable.

I reuploaded the file for those interested. It seems to work ok now.

I have virtually all the Foofighter skins. What I have done is manually enable a particular skin (or set of skins, one for each Boat type) depending upon what year I am sailing in....black early, grey later. Are you saying that in this MOD, all the skins will be loaded/enabled (by JSGME) at one time and the correct one will somehow be automatically picked by the Game depending upon the date of a career...or date of a Single Mission? I'm not smart enough to understand how that would work, but it will be a great feature...
Does this MOD require TM??? I only use RSRDC (Version 350)and Stock1.4.

Doolittle, the game has textures for early war and late war. It's possible to have a skin with a black texture for the early war and a grey texture for the late war. The game determines which texture to use based on the date. Syxx_Killer has done the same thing that we did with some of the newer killflags skins, that is, use black for early and grey for late.
It's magic:yep: And you don't need any other mods for it to work.

Digital_Trucker explained it better than I could have. That is why I arranged the skins the way I did. If I enabled a certain skin, say a gray one, the way the files are in the original skins, I would have a gray skin in the early parts of the war when I shouldn't have it. I was poking my nose around the game Data directory when I noticed that each sub had a black skin and a gray skin dds file. Let's use the Balao, for example. In its folder, it has an NSS_Balao_T01.dds file and an NSS_Balao_T02.dds file. The T01 is the file for the black skin. The T02 is the gray skin. Each conning tower had a similar setup. The original skin packs don't have different skins. I originally had all FooFighters' skins downloaded and added to my JSGME MODS folder. This was way too much of a hassle to switch between gray and black skins all the time. This way all you have to do is enable one skin pack and have black skins for early war and gray ones for late war. Additionally, since I just put my favorite FooFighters skins in this pack, it is easy to switch them out of you like a different one (take the NSS_Submarine_T02.dds from your favorite gray skin and replace the respective file in this skin pack). All the black skins are included so that won't be an issue. However, you may like a different gray skin than I included.

Thanks Syxx for the explanation.. When it comes to someone being able to substitute a preferred Grey skin, you might want to include that explanation in an updated readme for your MOD.
Cool MOD...as you say it will save me (and others) a lot of trouble swapping out individual skins in JSGME.

Thanks for the links :salute: – I’d already downloaded a few of FooFighters’ skins, they’re really excellent. I was just asking about this mod since, if I’ve read the post correctly, it would save having to swap the skins out manually in JSGME as the campaign progressed.
I found a file called TMO_FooSkins.7z on Ducimus’ filefront page which does what I was looking for. With hindsight I probably should have enquired in the TMO thread first as that’s what I’m using, but thanks again for the quick reply.
