A word of caution:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=809103&postcount=451

Apparently, I've done something really wrong. While this may be a single case, I've pulled the download for the time being. I don't want anybody else to experience similar problems.

A new version is available. If you want to find out what this whole drama was all about (regarding unsafe uninstall procedure), please read here for the original warning and the follow up:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=809103&postcount=451

I was never able to confirm the problem, and later the guy who reported it told me it was not related to S3D after all.

Again, beta... backup backup backup!

trying to make sure I understand correctly, does this mean that if I want to copy all the same files, model and all from say Type IId dat to the type IIa, dat, it will do so for me???

[edit] Oops, misunderstood. No it does not copy files and such. The 'Import Dat-file' option is to import a file into another, so you can combine multiple files into one.

If you import to an empty document, you might as well copy the file in Explorer though. Don't confuse this function with 'cloning', but you can use it to clone something together with a few other steps.

To clone a series of chunks/nodes in one go - while keeping the parent/child relationship intact, - and without the need to export/import all chunks one-by-one you could remove any chunk you don't need from file A, run the Remap function to generate new id's for all the chunks, save as temp file and then import this temp file into the file B. Voila, easy cloning of a bunch of nodes, in just a few clicks. ;)

Also, with this method, you could set up template-files (like node, controller and properties chunk combo's) that you can import over and over if you need them in a file or more files more than once. Saves you quite a few clicks compared to 'import/export raw chunk'.
