Is there an adjustable parameter that would allow default to standard propulsion on surfacing rather than defaulting to charge batteries?

I don't know, but I sure wouldn't want it. For me it would come down to

1) Yelling "Hey, quit charging and give me full speed! I mean NOW!"

2) Not needing full speed and forgetting to recharge, then having to blame Bernard when they run dry.:damn:

I think if you accept that upon surfacing your automatically in charging mode....the only time you might want to consider changing straight over to standard is if your in hot persuit of a convoy that has passed you by.

I shudder when I think of the times when I've surfaced and shortly after have had to submergs again because an escort has spotted me or an aircraft suddenly appears as if from nowhere.

Those few extra % points of charge can make the difference between sneaking away or having to lie 'doggo' through lack of power.....as we all know this is of no benefit in the SH3 world. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif

Two ways of looking at it I guess. Personally, I'd rather have full diesel power available so that I can push right up as quickly as possible (and apart from anything else minimize the floundering around and swallowing buckets of water in heavy weather) and also be able to get down fast again if necessary.

This can be done by linking "Standard Propulsion to "Surface the Boat" in set keys.
You will be sorry you did this, however; if you forget to recharge batteries and then come upon an ASW group.

You better believe it http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/bubblegum2.gif

:hmm: I hear you, but, I think I'll give a whirl at adjusting it. Like one of those mad inventors cooking up something doomed to failure  .

It only takes a few seconds to switch to standard propulsion through the integrated orders anyway.

There is only one certainty here.....you'll never sicceed if you don't give it a try....good luck http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/thumbsup.gif

A long time ago I thougt about this issue. Well, the reason to want this, is that you want the boat to go as quick as possible, giving the command "ahead flank".

Using SetKeys I combined the order "Ahead Flank" with "Standard Propulsion" and all the other forward commands, except "Slow Ahead"(~Silent Running) witch "Battery Charge"

I get maximum speed when i desire but under all other conditions the batteries are charged.

That's a brilliant workaround!

That's great, thanks, just set it up and works fine  . Now to see if I forget to charge the batteries at some point.

BTW that SetKeys utility is real nice.

It looks like we shouldn't have to remember. If we did it right, the batteries will still recharge automatically unless Flank Speed is selected.

I hope.

Right, I knew that of course  , I was just trying an unbelievably sophisticated reverse-psychology with-a-twist ploy to see if anyone else knew it :know: .
