I just started to mod a campaign in the Atlantic like in Sh3...
Now I added the most important German, Norway, and Biskaya harbors.
Her's a map screenshot:

So here is my question to the community:
Is anyone able to get the sh3 campaign-data for the Atlantic into sh4 or make a similar file???:lol:

I think I am not the only person who wants to hunt in the Atlantic;)

But the other thing would be:
We wait for the : 'falling rising sun' modpack by a great German modderteam.
(http://www.aotd-clan.de/ is their homepage)
But don't flame them, because they added parts of TM and ROW in their modpack:huh:

Are you talking about the actual ships or the shipping lanes?

Yes you could look at it in a mission eitor but the SH3 and SH4 campaign files are very diffrent, SH4 uses randomized units and spawns a random battleship or merchant where they are called in, SH3 uses individual units all placed in unique places, so you could look at the SH3 files and get the general idea of where the lanes would be but they would not have the exact ships you wanted unless you place them out individually.

A lot of work indeed. Ask the guys from GWX, NYGM or WarAce Campaign how long they had to work to get where they are now. Or ask Lurker about RSRDC. You'll get the same answer every time.

Perhaps you need to talk to the guys at AtlanticSharks, they may have alead y done some of the work you intend to do, they popped up on subsim from time to time but havnt heard from them for a while

Hey guys!

Due to the lack of motivation/mod-members and the upcoming addon, and the need of uboats in SH4, I want to share my goals. Maybe we can work together to complete the subs and get all the functions of them working...


I've got the Typ 7c working, with snorkel, guns, conings, etc. The tower-crew is US, in the controlroom without textures. There are some other issuses, like the missing radioroom or US-sensors, but its full playable. (State of progress and screenshots can be found in the AS-sticky)



Read carfull!

The download contains the complete directorys where files are modded. You have to copy serveral *.tga from sh3/data/textures from your sh3-folder (I have no list of needed *.tga) by your own. All other files should be in the download. The few sh4 files I modded are V1.3, but these are only from /data/upcdata/upcunitsdata.
For a working snorkel, you have to add the keyboard-command with Cavalier889's setkey by your own.

I'll share the files as pre-alpha, at your own risk. Don't forgett to backup changed files.

Use it, modify it, but share the improvements.

I start with the Black Sea
There were around 3 typ ix subs and it is not as big as the Atlantic

Yes, Matze released a type 7, previous to the add-on, but without the crew working properly. In that version, crewmembers are just black silhouettes, without textures and dials are still bugged IIRC. If you browse their thread, in the AOTD forum, you'll see that they have a new version of the type 7 with all crew functional and textured, and with dials working OK. I think they'll release their subs only when their mod will be ready, not as an independent download.

3 x Type IX? In the Black Sea? :hmm:

Try 6 x Type IIB...

Even that was a PITA to research for GWX 2 - ask BBW who had the fun of scripting Operation 60,000.

But certainly a better swimming pool to start in.

I missunderstood something

That destroys my plans...
But I converted the campaign_rnd file from gwx2 and it works
I also got the type IIB boat ready and may u can turn a blind eye when u can earn a viic or a Ixd2
