View Full Version : Ship weaknesses in regognition manual?
There was a mod for SH3 which visualized each ships weaknesses like ammo bunker / fuel bunker / engine / propulsion systems and so such in the recognition manual, so you knew where to aim your torpedoes best at.
Is there a similiar mod for SH4, preferrably the Uboat addon? Already tried a search but to no success, unfortunatly.

The ammunition bunkers are usally located underneath the Turrets, The propultion systems are located under the smoke stack. I would assume the fuel bunkers would be around the smoke stack as well.

Pretty close. Main-gun magazines were indeed under the turrets. In a big ship the secondary magazines might be centrally located for equal distribution to all guns. Boilers are under the funnels; engine rooms usually further aft. Fuel tanks were spread around the ship for balance and to keep from losing all fuel with one strike.
As for 'weak-spot' drawings in the ID book, the real guys never had it so good. As has been pointed out before, sometimes the picture and description they had wasn't even for the right ship.:dead:

Agreed, Fog of War is the way to go....the less info the better. Just like the whole mast height issue, don't need it, you already have the tools there that make the stadimeter and recog manual unecessary.

I like the error with the stadimeter, because it adds some uncertainty. I don't mind missing on occassion - I've gotten really good with the stock tools and sometimes it gets boring when you know you're going to hit.

Real life sub skippers had color coded charts to tell them where to hit their targets to kill easily? Wow. ;)
I have the real USN recognition manuals, and they have no such thing. Must have only been the KM with such amazing tools.
