Hi

I have extracted the content of a dat.file in the sea-folder, trying to get a nice ship. The result is 8 obj-files that seem to make up parts of the ship, but thats hard to use.

Is there any way to use deep X or some other tool to get a "fully combined" ship out in a nice format, like obj, 3ds etc.

Thanks a lot
Erik

Nope. There is no auto location data included within the *.obj files.

Whichever 3D suite you use, you will have to move/arrange the parts to their correct locations. It's annoying as hell but it's the only way.

I've had to do a lot of these in a 3D studio and I can assure you that a completed 3D model of a ship will require more than 8 parts. Once you include, guns, life boats, rigging, radar etc, most models will end up with at least 20+ parts.

The easiest solution is to take a screenshot of the model ingame and use it as a guide.

Think of it as a jigsaw puzzle:up:

In Deep X,
Load and position all objects,
Right click and click on Select all,
Go to File and select Save as.
Name your new object file.
All parts are now one obj file.
