lo fellow kaleuns

remember reading a post about the messages recieved in gwx relating to other u-boats being sunk....something like..."we regret to inform that u-so and so has been sunk....bdu"
there was talk of removing this as it wasnt accurate historically and poor for moral..

after reading a couple of books ( during tc on long trips) u-boats did recieve these messages....but as intercepts from other boats...contacting bdu.

something like this " Attacked by aircraft. unable to dive. u-59"
or " attacked by destroyer. damages..sinking. u-49"
also "schnorkel defect..bombed..sinking..62n 01e u-187"
just thought if the dev guys were going to remove the original messages from bdu...then they could replace them with this sort of thing.

just a thought to the gwx team..i know they must have a thousand harder problems to be dealing with but just a thought

cheers

hally

Don't worry Sir. Radio messages from the BdU reporting u-boote losses will no more appear in the update.

Right :p but it's not historically accurate. That's why these radio messages have been removed.

Realism rules . But, its a good thing. Is there a possibility to convert it into a MOD?

Sirkam; RadioLog_Expanded has these messages and a few thousand more. (8,350)

@ Sirkam : For sure ! Though certainly none of us members of the GWX team will make this mod available, some modder will probably release it after the 2.1 release.

No need. Just re-install RadioLog_Expanded after GWX 2.1.

hi guys

i was aware that these messages were being removed from gwx2.1

i just thought it would be cool to replace them with intercepts of other boats in trouble. this was historically accurate and will still give you guys the motivation for revenge....dont want to do away with that now do we???:rotfl:

There are several messages that do just that. If you can locate another source I am not aware of it is possible to include them in the update for RL_E. Having said that be aware I will not delete/omit any of the other messages in said update. However, and I shouldn't have to mention this but with a good text editor you can simply search/find keywords like "we regret" and delete the line(s) for your own use. Other then that Sailor Steve & jimbuna are spot on.

no intention to offend danurve mate

i love the extra immersion your mod brings i just thought for historical accuracy the boat sunk messages could be altered. i know you can edit the text to suit your own needs...its a great mod and a vital add on.....i look forward to the update

sorry if i came across as nagging
this is not the case..all the work put in by you guys is very mutch appreciated

This isn't actually all that inaccurate, just the wording could be changed to allow it to be more realistic. I have a lot of sources I used for the Radiolog and there were times that BdU would indicate other boats had been lost by repeatedly asking them to report their position over a few days.

Other u-boats also did send out messages to BdU if they were being sunk or in great danger of being sunk as well.

Fellow Kaleuns those are words said by the man who originated the RadioLog :know:

Good to hear from you irishred; wasn't sure you were still playin the game! I am putting together a corrective release for RadioLog_Expanded next month (a few duplicates & timing fixes) I would enjoy hearing/reading any feedback you might have for it.

The msg's about lost U-boats in Expanded are part of the messages included from GWX by permission. I wanted to ensure nobody was missing them. I have read some other threads where there is talk of this being changed. I don't see that being nessesary but I'll make an effort to keep the Log as complete as possible within reason. What that really means is I am trying to avoid seperate releases of the same version.

von hally; Things are cool no sweat. If you don't have a good text editor but still want those msg removed I can e-mail you a cut without them (not jsgme).
