Initial post, we will try to make a new list of links to the posts in this forum that have the latest SH3 mods.

IF YOU CREATE A NEW SH3 MOD OR UTILITY, you will may want to make a brand new post with the [REL] Name of your mod here in this SH3 Mods Workshop forum. Once you do that, could you also make a reply in this thread with the title and link of your [REL] mod name thread. That would help.

We will also add that mod to the list in this post. thanks!

You may want to contact the lad that did the fix: matttm, however is looks like it is for NYGM, not sure for GWX.

Thank you all for your efforts in updating the mods list. It was overdue for an overhaul.
Many thanks to the dedicated efforts of the modders who make this list possible.

It would be much appreciated if the mods could have some sort of nomenclature or legend to indicate which are compatible with certain supermods or stock SH3 only.

I know that would make more work for you, but it certainly would help, especially for new kaleuns wondering what to add to their install of stock SH3, GWX 1.03, GWX 2.0, NYGM, WAC, or whatever.

Is is also feasible to group the mods by type, such as utilities, effects, environment, GUI, gameplay, u-boat models, u-boat interior, u-boat skins, u-boat weapons, crew, merchants, warships, aircraft, ASW, etc...?

Jaesen's utilities should be grouped first as they're useful for any version of SH3 and ought to be the first downloads for anyone wanting to use mods. :know:

We'll see about the above, it is a time consuming task. Some of your requests can be done by using the search option here as well just through users gaining forum experience ( reading the read-me's produced by modders, etc. ).

@ Panzer, we are looking at updating our list back about one year. So to March of 2007. At least this is the plan. If you have any that fall between now and March of last year, send them along.

Edit: Only send along ones that have a thread here at SUBSIM attached to it, other wise folks may get confused. It would be nice to post all mods here, however it will be to difficult to provide support to those mods with no documentation, I wish we could but we have to draw the line somewhere. Questions?

Blender - A very well made open source modeling and animation app that is
comparable to the stuff you pay for, such as Maya and 3D Studio MAX.
Excellent support and many addons available.

Wings3D - Here at Subsim, this is the most popular choice of free 3D apps. Not
as mature and loaded with features as Blender, but it still does the job
well with an easier learning curve.

Anim8or - A freeware modeling and animation app with a large community of
users. Intended for beginner-intermediate level artists but don't let its
simple interface fool you as it is very capable of creating impressive
effects. It also has excellent support and many extras.

OpenFX - A former commercial product, known as Soft F/X, it was released as open
source a few years ago with major improvments incorporated since then.
Built for Windows, using MS Visual Studio, it offers plugins, image maps,
and more.

Free File Archivng Software

Izarc - The absolute best all-around file compressor and decompressor. Supports numerous formats including ZIP, RAR, 7-ZIP, ACE, LZH, LHA, TAR, TGZ, BZ2, and CAB files. Also works with extracting files from many disc imgae formats such as ISO, NRG, and BIN. Allows for integration into the Windows Explorer Shell for a simple right-click to create or extract archive in many ways.

ALZip - Similar to Izarc, it supports numerous formats, including the virtual CD format, LCD. Has built-in password recovery for password protected archives and highly customizable preferences.

7-Zip - Highly touted for its compression algorithm that outperforms RAR and ZIP for crunching a file down. It's been gaining in popularity quite a bit, lately. Also includes Explorer Shell integration.

Universal Extractor - Does what the name implies. This baby will extract 99.9% of all file archives known to man, including many compressed installers such as Install Shield, Windows Installer (MSI), WISE Installer, and more. Integrates into the Explorer Shell just like the others above. A must have for those hardcore file mechanics out there.

KGB - Claims to compress files even more tightly than 7-Zip and includes 256-bit AES encryption. Unfortunately, it requires some decent horsepower to use it smoothly, due to the intensive algorithm used. The minimum recommended hardware is a 1.5GHz CPU and 256MB of RAM (which is what you should have as a minimum anyways if you're playing SH3!).

Hmmm. As an old Command Aces of the Deep fella of yor and a new SH3 owner I do find selecting mods a bit daunting myself. Old age I guess. Above quote has merit. Playing catch up with all the new additions is more unnerving than being depth charged! :D

I think the best thing here would be to read the thread or read-me, if still an issue, PM the maker. To be honest it is difficult on this end to determine what you are asking. Meaning what mod is compatible with what.

This is pretty much the case now with how they are listed, not exact but close.

Jaesen's utilities should be grouped first as they're useful for any version of SH3 and ought to be the first downloads for anyone wanting to use mods. :know:

Hmmm. As an old Command Aces of the Deep fella of yor and a new SH3 owner I do find selecting mods a bit daunting myself. Old age I guess. Above quote has merit. Playing catch up with all the new additions is more unnerving than being depth charged! :D

Thanks for the post :yep: ( and to the lad who posted what is in the quote ) , see my responses in yellow. Any suggestions are always appreciated here, some things we can do, some are just a little to time-consuming ( after all we are volunteers ) and just don't have the time to do.

I know in my own experiences I have used threads such as this to get up to speed on mods, also through time I honed my skills ( as much as I can anyway :doh::lol: ) just searching the new and older threads, posting questions and getting to know my way around SUBSIM. It has taken time, but has been worth it :D.

I have added this mod & activated it in JSGME ! However i have not yet ran into a Destroyer. In trying these different sonar pinging sounds out i agree that number one is the best ! How does one know whether or not he has #1 ?
