I can't find the screen resolution mod. I want to run at 1680x1050. It still looks good on my 22" wide screen but I want to get the most out of this.

it is the sh3 xpsp2 res fix
The only "problem" I have with it is sometimes it now takes me 3 or 4 times hitting + or - to increase decrease the TC. not too big a deal tho.
In searches of the forum on the same subject I've learned that with the use of nVidia's settings manager you can fix the aspect ratio so that the screen is filled but the image isn't stretched without the use of the res mod. The same cannot be said for ATI users. We get this thing called 'Centered Timings' which supposedly renders non uniform images and programs with black bars on the sides or top (like a widescreen movie on a regular TV). But it doesn't seem to work for me.
If you have nVidia then you don't need the mod it seems. With ATI it will be stretched. This affects more than just the aesthetic. It affects the way things are plotted on the map so that if you're trying to do manual TDC then you'll be invariably off.
The life of an ATI user sucks, neh?

I'm ATI and widescreen (since Jan) also with manual TDC. I'm finding the distortion isn't affecting plotting as much as I thought. For the most part, I'm getting an accurate enough read on target course and speed to be able to find a decent AOB. I'm thinking that my misses are more attributable to rushed or insufficient or just plain inaccurate 3min15 fixes than on the distortion. Mind you, I do tend to shoot at under 1000 metres. Presumably the distortion would have a greater effect with increased shoot range.

I have Nvidia and it displays without an issue right now but its only at 1080x768 and I want 1680x1050. I havn't installed the fix yet. I will do that later.
@scupking
Then I'd advise you to keep any expanded resolutions to the 4:3 aspect brand and let nVidia's drivers match the edges to your screen. You could experiment with widescreen as well.
I'm not sure what the most effective combination is. Someone said that 1280x1024 was the highest resolution that displayed properly and after that it wasn't as good but I can't testify to that.
