Would it be possible to create a new forum just for SH4 Add-On Mods? Just to prevent the inadvertant installation by any of those people who don't read all of there read me's written by modders. I have not done it, but its only a matter of time before someone does and borkers there game install up.

Good idea, at least for a start:up:
Not needed. Modders just need to say whether the mod is 1.5 compatible. No need to fragment the forums any more than they are.
If people don't READ the readme files, it's their own damn fault.

Luke is correct here. In light of cleaning up this forum of stickies and getting it organized, we only request and I'm sure a natural thing for the modder to do when posting, state that it is 1.5 compatible. It is already ingrained by the modders to add JSGME ready in their posts. Seeing as that has become second nature, so will adding "1.5 compatible".
Also, I would like to thank each modder personally who dedicates a bit extra to make each mode combatible with RFB/TM/ROW/NSM/RSRD/stock game(sorry if I missed any) and rolling it all up for you, the end user, no matter what version you are playing and with what mod. The end user gets all of that a one awesome price. No coupon required.

Ok, :D . BTW, thank you to all the modders out there for the great work yall do with this game and UBI for the add-on. Now just add the atlantic campaign to this and maybe the japs and this game would be close to perfect...hehe ( I know, to much to do ).
The forum idea was just an Idea. I am currently running a very heavily modded 1.4 game and have a second install with the 1.5 add-on that has 3 of the current 1.5 capatable mods installed. The RSRD V310, Scope / NomoGraph and the Enviromental Color Mods on it.
Was just trying to help those out there who might not understand english enough to prevent the usually "murphys law" ( Insert the, :damn: I should have had a V-8 juice commercial here ) from taking effect....lol.

Copy your entire Silent Hunter 4 Install folder to another location (make sure and change all your desktop shortcuts to reflect the folder change. Good idea to rename them, too, so they don't get overwritten later). Use MultiSH4 to change the name of the folder used for saved games to something other than SH4 and rename your My Documents\SH4 folder to something other than SH4 (you only have 3 characters to work with. I'm planning on using S for the first character, the last digit of the version number for the second character and S (for stock), M (for modded), T (for test), M (for TM), R (for RFB) or some other character to denote differences for the third character.
Then, so you start with a fresh install, uninstall SH4 (it will uninstall from the original location) and reinstall and patch to the version you want to use. If you want to keep a stock version, copy the newly patched install folder somewhere (like .....Silent Hunter 4 v1.5 Stock) and use MultiSH4 in that install folder to assign the folder where you want saved games stored.
Oh, yeah, and don't forget to buy a new hard drive so that when you have 12 different installs, you'll have someplace to put them:rotfl:

OK I can do that... Let me try to say it in my own words to see if I understand:
Let's say I put the copy of SH4 1.4 on my D Drive.
Then, you say I should completely Uninstall (using Control Panel), my entire current SH4 (1.4) (from my C Drive)??? Then use my original SH4 Disc to re-install the stock SH4, then download the new Addon and Patch to 1.5. I should also put a JSGME application in the new 1.5 folder?? Then copy back over from my D Drive any Mods (hopefully compatible with 1.5) I want, and any new 1.5 specific Mods that come along...and enable using the new JSGME in the SH4 1.5 folder... Is that right?
That will leave me with a 1.4 SH4 (D Drive), a 1.5 SH4 (C Drive), each with a separate JSGME's and each with separate "My Documents\SH4\Save folders?
If I can do that without messing up the Registry I'll be amazed.

I don't know about copying over all your mods since most of them will probably be affected somehow by the patch, but basically that's it. Just don't forget to use multish4 to give each install a seperate save folder in "My Documents".
By uninstalling the game, you remove the registry entries so you shouldn't have any registry problems.

And where is this elusive and cunning "MultiSH4" located? For the short yellow bus commandos like me :88).

The best way may be to have a separated forum for Wolves at Paciphic v1.5 because it is not a patch is a new game...
