What do i have to do to change Name and SS on a sub in my career?

in \My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames\

find your active save game folder you wish to modify (ie something like \00000000), and open the file ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc...
change UnitName= to whatever string value you like.
