.....is a little Program that will help the user to build their own Sh4 Menu.

Features:

Up to 15 Tabs
Up to 15 Buttons per Tab
Easy change of the Icons for the Tabs and Buttons from available Icontables
All used commands in SH4 will be available
Every Button and Tab will be programmable
Copy, Paste, Delete and Move of Buttons
Easy Mode with Ready Commandstable

The ready menu will work with all kind of different HUD's.

V1.1 available - killed a bug that let you only select from 15 Tabicons instead of 18.
V1.5 available - Works on SH4 1.4 and 1.5. Removed a bug with 15th button.
V2.0 available - Buttons and Tab appearance changeable. Red and blue Buttons available. Space between Buttons changeable. (Please read the Manual)

SH4 Menumaker will write the new OrdersBar.cfg File in Mods\MyMenu.

!!!! You have to activate MyMenu with JSGME to get the new Menulayout !!!!

Loaded the program into the main file and loaded the extra icons into the mod file. Opened the program changed some icons then loaded with JSGME. Started the game and only got half icons on the buttons. The main buttons were also distorted. Any idea why this is happening? I tried some different resolutions, but nothing helped. Uninstalled with JSGME and icons were fine. I like the program but just having a few problems.

Doing the exact same thing to me. I was going to play with it a bit more before filing a report in case I was doing something wrong.

I'll send it off tonight once I get home. I do use VAC (voice activated commands) when playing along with the buttons. I don't think I changed that many commands, but that may be the problem.

As you see i tried different resolutions without problems.

Please try to download the newer icons. Maybe you get a corrupted download.
Or one of your Mods gets in conflict. I cannot imagine - because i made extra dds-graphicfiles for no conflicting with other Hud Mods.

Had to uninstall all my mods to install the Tokyo Express Mission, so I ran a few experiments:

Uninstalled all mods; installed just MyMenu; ran the game...still messed up.

Downloaded the new version of SH4 Menumaker; installed it; ran the program and saved the default menu without making any changes; installed just MyMenu; ran the game...still messed up.

So it isn't any other mods messing it up. It just doesn't like me. :cry: :cry: :cry:

I just installed the Add-on. (After a new install of SH4 due of some problems with the add-on and my old installation)

And NO - the Menumaker will not work with Add-On. They changed a lot of the Hud graphics.

On Weekend i will try to make some changes to cover the Addon also with the Menumaker.

Jimi any ideas why we are getting the messed up graphics on the buttons? If I uninstall with JSGME everything works fine again. I even unloaded the metal hud mods and it didn't help. Open for suggestions.

Version 1.5 available.

Works on 1.4 or 1.5 - Changes automatically in the needed version.

Works on german and allied Hud.

There are new choices only available with the SH4 1.5 Version

1 - shows the used SH4 Version.

2 - On 1.5 blue buttons available (mostly used for view commands)

3.- On 1.5 you have the possibility to let the buttons blink or be invisible.

Invisible is usefull for people with low resolution. Make order that are only needed underwater not visible on surface, and vice versa.

Removed the bug, when using 15 buttons Menumaker shows only one button.

jimi, can you check your download link for your newest release, and if possible, add it to a zip file? Every time I try to download it, my antivirus program pops up, and even when I do disable it, it won't let me open the file after I download it.

Hi there,

I'm having problems saving the completed menus

I have U-boat missions installed, making the SH4 to 1.5.

When I go into the application and save without making any changes I get the following error. It gets more complicated when I add buttons.

The only thing I can say is I tried deleting the buttons off the camera tab and the error message stayed the same except "Button 6" became "Button 5" on the error message and so on...

Can you shed any light please?

I just downloaded the Menumaker and installed into SH4 the Mods\MyMenu\Data\Menu\cfg path is not there. Even when I create it, the button 6 error still displays.

OK, i found the problem.
Please add to the Mods\MyMenu\Data\Menu an empty Folder called "cfg".

It seems that the setup Maker did not bind in empty folders. I will try to get this corrected.

I loaded the test file and it did fix the graphic problem. It only works with the origianal MyMenu file also loaded, it won't work alone. There is one problem still, in that I can't go back and change any of the icons, as they stay the same as the ones before a change. In other words what ever I had before the test file was added is all that I can get to come up. I experimented with deleting a couple keys to see if the total problem was fixed, but I can't get any additional changes. I also uninstalled the whole program are reloaded version 1.5 and still get the same thing. Hope this helps in solving the messed up graphics problem. Thanks Kirby

Sorry, but with my poor english i did not understand what you mean.

With the left mousebutton you have the possibility to copy, paste, delete and insert buttons. Deleting and inserting let you move buttons from one place to another place, also to different tabs. The deleted or copied button will be shown in the clipboard window, so that you everytime knows which button is in action.

Rearranging the buttons has been a top target of this program.

I hope this answer helps you.

The MenuMaker is a wonderfull program! Thanks for sharing this with the Subsim community.

I have spent hours trying to create my "perfect" menu. This makes a tedious process more enjoyable!

When adding new functions to the menu, I like to add keyboard shortcuts to commands.cfg as well.

In a future release, could you implement a method of assinging a hotkey to each button?

Hi Scott,

changing settings in the commands.cfg need a separate programm, otherwise it would be very problematic put only shortcuts for the Hud butons. All the other keys would not be adjustable.
Better to make a extra Proggie only for the commands. (SH4Keymaker is in the pipeline and will be the next project - The target will be easyhandling like the Menumaker)

The Menumaker covers the individual settings in the Ordersbar.cfg.
In the moment i'm working making the buttonsgraphics changeable for the user.

I have the same exact problem. AVG pop ups and tells me there is a trojan there. I imagined that it was a problem with AVG since so many people had downloaded the mod and if it were a virus there they would have found it too. I deactivated AVG and downloaded again but XP refused to run the program..."not enough rights". So my next move was to boot into Vista and it ran perfectly. And I use AVG in Vista too. So my guess is that there is something wrong with AVG+the version of windows I use.

I have just checked with my virusscanner. Nothing found.

I'm running one of the best Virusscanners that i know. E-scan. It works with automatically updates and every 3 days it scan the registry, memory and systen files.

Nobody will be 100% sure but i mean a 97% is safe enough. ;)

I'working for over 20 years with computers, but until today i cannot understand why these idiots spend so much time in programming a virus. If they feel to little guys in Reallife and mean programming virus will let them become bigger guys, they are welcome at subsim. Programming some Mods will let them get the applause they mean to need.

Btw, I like the style of the Uboat-addon menu that we got, very refreshing. The buttons have a kind of ivory appeal to them...think I'm going to fiddle with those, the ones in jimi's collection.

I've been able to create my own own custom HUD using the HUD.DDS file from the UBoat Add on and menu buttons from the MenuMaker.

I play TMO + RSRDC and I'm having an issue with the Raise/Lower SD Antenna (Toggle snorkel) button.

I want that button to highlight in the active state when the SD Antenna is raised but I can not find a lock command that corresponds with the toggle snorkel function.

Anyone have any ideas on how to accomplish this or where to look next?

Try the "EDIT" function. For such cases the Menumaker has a build-in Edit function.
You get in the free text edit function klicking on the lock. Now you will be able to write your own commands.

Look at the other lock commands and try if Sh4 understands it. Unfortunally i did not find any file containing all commands. Maybe they are hardcoded.
You ca only try. SH4 will stop loading and bring a popup-alert if the command is not compatible.

Other way is to write the new command in the sh4menumaker.ini. You can open it with the normal editor. Look for the [LOCK] commands and add your new commands.

I loaded through jsgm after i added to the icons....but all i get in game is odd coloured buttons and the symbols on top are all messed up.They seem to be missing textures ........i am runing TMO and 1.5 with rsdc and PE latest version...
AS Duci has said some of the buttons are missing symbols due to them not being copatable with TMO 1.4 ......can you help me i want to use your menu maker but the graphics are bad.....i am running a wide screen 1650x1050:cry: :)

There are a number of modding tools that are on my list of favorites. Winmerge, S3D, Winzip (yes winzip), and as of 5 minutes ago, most definatly this tool! I just tried it out, and .. im serious.. this tool is one of the coolest things to ever grace the mod forum. What would take an hour or three (at least for me) now takes, minutes. :up:

FIrstly, a great program. :up: But I have a small problem in using MenuMaker. When I click on an icon for a button, or an order for a button, I get the icon or order two places to the left, not the one I was clicking.
I have narrowed down the cause to be the fact that I run my Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/General/DPI at 120dpi instead of the default 96dpi. Is this something that can be fixed? or do I just have to keep changing it back to use Menumaker?

Downloaded this wonderful little tool yesterday and have used it to customize the menu buttons to my liking. The application is well designed, intuitive and very easy to use. Within just a few minutes I had made my modifications and loaded them to the game without a hitch.

Higher resolution users have the ability to impliment all 15 buttons, lower resolutions look to be limited to just ten.

I recommend this tool to any who would like to tweak their menu items to their liking, it can't be beat!

All I can say is WOW!!!!. This tool is awesome. Two :up::up:

Now I don't have to worry about trying to track down that "Green Light" mod or the one that adds the "All Hands to battle stations" button to all the tabs etc.

This is incredible.

Suggestion for the next improvement:

Being able to move the tabs to rearrange the order of them would be great.

Figured out how to do that with the buttons using the delete and insert. Something similar with the tabs would be great as well.

Again, awesome tool. Absolutely love the ease of use and intuative nature of the whole thing.

Nice to see that the user begin to understand my targets.

My dream is to let the user design as easy as possible their own personally SH4 Interface.
I like the idea that everybody can setup a lot of parameter without knowing too much of modding.

JTxE has been the first tool, by let the user switch on or off parts of the menu1024..ini to mix different Mods.(Like JSGME do)

SH4 Menumaker is the beginning of a part of graphical tools for an easy and unproblematically changing of config settings.

A keymaker will follow, and also a a program to rearrange the gui interfaces. (here i need a lot of study about the zones)

But all in time - at the moment i need a little distance from modding.
I bought Sh4 as one of the first here in Germany - and until today i have only finished two patrols. V1.5 i knew only from testing Mods.


Enjoy the Menumaker - and, for all user, who think SH4Menumaker is a tool for modders - NO, this tool is for you. Try it, and see how easy it can be to get your personilized Hud.

Suppose I want to edit the existing 1.5 menu...is there a way, to load the default HUD into the Menumaker, so that I can see which tabs&buttons are present, and which are lacking/obsolete?

For me personally, the ideal situation would be, if I could load the default HUD-menu in this tool, and then start editing...while any new buttons or tabs I add, automaticallly get the right appearance (ie, the same appearance as the default menu), unless I tell them to look different.

Hope you understand my question?

On the first start, the menumaker has inside the default v1.4 and default v1.5 settings.

Since Version 2.0 there is also a "load" function in the Menumaker. So you can drive to your desired folder and load in the desired config.

I was wanting to put a "Combat Map" tab next to the Navigation Map tab, and a "Attack Periscope" Tab next to an "Obersvation Periscope" tab. This would mean eliminating some of the default tabs from the menu and adding them back later, since I can't just change the order.

*edit* also, one thing I noticed. The tab for "Captains Abilities" is still there, but it loses its default Icon from what I could see.

Left- or Right-clicking brings up menu's....copy, delete and paste are amongst them.:up:

It does that with the buttons, but I tried that with the tabs, no joy.

And I did read the manual.

In using the program, its a right click to actually bring up that menu and it doesn't work with the tabs.

sorry no delete, insert, copy and paste for the tabs. This will create a lot of trouble in getting well working routines.Too much attributes for each button has to been clipboarded and moved. I do not see too much needed for this, regarding the work it will cause. (if somebody will do the work i will send him the source code ;))

The easiest way is to add a new tab and move all the buttons from the left tab, then move from the previous left tab to the new empty, and so on.
This will work very easy and you get the same result.


*edit* also, one thing I noticed. The tab for "Captains Abilities" is still there, but it loses its default Icon from what I could see.

Please try the save special option. I noticed this problems be some users. But until today i was not able to track the problem.
Sh4 Menumaker use extra Graphic files for the icons. Using the original Graphics files helps. This is what the save special do. It switchs to the original graphicfiles.( And please try also to switch to the original distance between the buttons)

The buttton or Tab appearance changes will not be saved, because they need special graphic files, and these files makes your problems.
But you will be able to reorganize your buttons.

Downloaded 2.0c and ran into a couple of things.

Tried loading the default 1.5 orderbar.cfg
When I did, the abilities tab was missing.

I created 13 tabs and saved the work as a favorite because I wasn't finished. When I reloaded the file, the 13th tab was gone. Happens every time

Also, the command for the Special abilities tab is missing from 2.0c .

I noticed 1.5 has a flakgun icon, but hadn't noticed if that was a distinct view command for that icon. If so it's missing too.

That aside- great program. Very useful with some really great options. Need to play with it some more to give you feedback on other aspects.

It was only coded for 15 buttons per tab - 22 buttons means to rework totally graphically the Menumaker for having enough space to show all the 22 buttons. And reencode all the variables and internal loops. I feel it makes no sense to rework the special ability tabs. My intend was, to give the people the change to rework their normal commands bar to let them make their own commands bar.

If reworking the special abilities will be needed, i will create an extra menu option for covering this issue.

About this flakgun icon i will check this evening after work.

OK- now I understand on the special abilities, I just wanted to know it was still there. I noticed menu maker just pushes it to the last position when you open the cfg file- nice way to handle that.

On hte 13th tab- your program was working like you'd said. I'd created a tab and assigned a view, but no buttons. Later I changed my mind for other reasons and decided to only use 12 anyway:D

Took some playing to get used to this tool, but the more I use it- the more I really like it!! It's amazing how fast I can implement changes.:up:

SH4Menumaker has an hidden edit function where you can try own command on your risk.

The flakgun_camera command is used with the stock menu bar that comes with 1.5;)

It's an icon in the AA menu bar that's flagged to only appear when a german flakgun is installed.

If anybody is wondering, MYmenu automatically creates the "ability" menu for version 1.5 when it creates your customized menubar.

No need to wonder about it like I did. LOL

Luke, i do not understand the problem of the inactive buttons. Can you please make a screenshot?
The screw ability buttons are defined in stock sh4 v1.5 with the second button images, i used this images to define the "red" buttons in Sh4Menumaker.
If you wanted the crew ability as round buttons you should define in SH4Menumaker the round buttons as "red" buttons. (button Menu -> Switch EditMode on) This should work.

I prefer to have red buttons for attack commands and do not take care about the crew ability appearance.

jimi, what happens is that sometimes, after saving the changes made in MenuMaker, the inactive buttons will show up with a round border instead of a square one like the active ones. Hopefully that makes more sense.

if you have 1.4 installed you can not use the ordersbar from 1.5, because of the different folder layout. Therefore SH4Menumaker warns you. SH4 will crash with a wrong ordersbar.cfg.

If you told me that you have TM running, and you copy the ordersbar.cfg from your installed TM, then the ordersbar.cfg should be the 1.4.

Or is this ordersbar.cfg from TM overhauled 1.5 ??

With regard to LukeFF i've also had a button change from square to round, (currently running menumaker 2 and running TM overhauled) i've also checked all the buttons and commands, as i also noticed some of these being reported wrong.

The button i added was torp door open close on the periscope toolbar, and this was square in the editor.

gone to play game and this button is now round and yellow.. lol other thing i've noticed on my rig is when i add buttons they dont always display but if i remove them all and create a bar from scratch it works fine.

think i'll do some more testing and verify my findings.

Apart from that, this is one cool and very welcome mod!!! keep it up jimi :up:

I want to understand this. Are you saying you can create icons to activate 'special abilities' or that you can not? I originally felt this utility simply would not do this but, after reading this again, I am unsure. I have since gone thru the command lists (switch, push, view) and unfortunately, can not find anything that resembles a special ability.

My saved game has gone corrupt and it is no immediate concern. Prior to this corruption, I had one special ability (orange in color, not green) that would load torpedoes faster (once per hour for ten minutes) but it had to be activated manualy. My Special Ability Tab had so many unclickable (passive/wrong compartment) abilities I could not even see it.:damn: Why such abilities are even listed here is beyond me. They should only be listed in the crew datasheet. Only abilities that I have to click should go on this tab IMO.

Then again, perhapse this was a bug (of my own fault) since the game eventually crashed on me anyways.

Sorry Menumaker did NOT change or activate the special abilities.

I noticed that the order of appearance is given by the departments.
Sh4 beginns with the After Torpedo room I, followed by Aft. Torp II and III. Then engine room I, II and III, and so on.

If you have a lot of people with passive specialities in the first left departments, in low resolutions the order bar will be too short.

This is a, not well done, feature from the devs. There are 22 special abilities possible.
Low resolution bars only get 10 buttons. So you see that all possible abilities do not have enough room on the bar. And unfortunally double or triple abilities will also appear.

In the next patch the devs could only solve this problem when they show first the switchable abilities and after them the constant abilities.

I just found about this super mod, downloaded and used it to change all my tabs and buttons so I can see what is going on aboard my boat at a glance. Works great.Easy to use.

One thing I'm curious about. My version of the MenuMaker Mod won't reload after I use it. I get a run time error. I have to reninstall..not remove and reinstall..just reinstall and then it works fine again.

Any idea why it does this?..not that it is a big deal..I've done all I need to do with it.

I'm running TMO/RSRDC. I load the TMO ordersbar.cfg into My menu and it comes up fine. Then I do my modifications and save and that appears to work with no error messages. Then I install MyMenu via JSGME, and that appears to work correctly, but when I go into the game, nothing has changed.
Then I check the MyMenu/data/menu/cfg file and there is no ordersbar.cfg in that cfg file. So it appears not to be saving. Hence no install.
Clearly, with so many satisfied and enthusiastic users, I'm screwing this up. Any ideas?

Problem solved!
Vista (Bill Gates, you suck.:down: ) will not allow the Mymenu OrdersBar.cfg to be saved to the menu/cfg folder inside the My menu folder in Mods. Altho it gives all appearances that is what it's doing.
Instead the save goes to (user name)\appdata\local\virtual store\programfiles\ubisoft\silent hunter wolves of the pacific\MyMenuFavorites.
It will only save as a favorite. Altho again if you hit plain save it appears to do that, but God knows where that goes. I haven't found it yet.:nope:
It titles the save file as MYmenu.cfg.
You then have to copy and paste it into the Mymenu/menu/cfg folder in Mods and rename it OrdersBar.cfg.
Then install with JSGME and it works fine.:up:
I must say Jimi that after all this, it was well worth the trouble, a great mod.:rock:
This, BTW, is the same thing Vista does with screen shots.

The easiest way to solve that whole Vista problem thing is to install the game somewhere other than the "Program Files" folder (like in a "Games" folder, for instance). That way Sneaky Billy (or whoever his current replacement is) won't even bat an eye when you activate your mod.

I never noticed this problem with my windows XP. Maybe it will occur on Vista??

I using the menumaker 2.0c on vista, and when I run it the first time it works fine,
but when I save the menu, exit the program and starts it again (to edit my menu) it comes up with an error saying :

sh version 1.4 - - config file v1.5
not compatible - please load config file 1.4

I havent got any other mods installed and im running the 1.4 silent hunter. (installed in d:games/sh4)
the only workaround is to delete the mymenu folder in mods and reinstall the program (and the default menulayout).
It also comes up with the error when i reload, even though im not editing anything but just saving the menu.



What did i do wrong?

Menumaker saves automatically into MODS\MyMenu......

I already put it in the folder with the sh.exe. and I can use the edited menu through jgsme.

And as i wrote but aparently not very clear is, that the first time I run the program it works fine. I can edit the menu's and save it, and when I load the game the new menu's is displayed correctly (which is supercool by the way. thanx for the good work). The problem only occurs when I want to reload the menu and edit it in menumaker.
Though its not that big a problem anymore, after reinstalling menumaker 4 or 5 times I finally get the menu's as i wanted them :-)

In the Menumaker when configuring a switch button (Toggle),
there is an item called : Lock -> If Command Is TRUE
There is a list full of Is_blabla and !Is_blabla.
Where did you get this list from?
The reason why I'm asking is the small hope that there will be a
!Is_selected_torpedo_tube_open, or something like that.

It would be really nice to have a Toggle button showing whether the active tube is open or closed, since I always open,close,open,close and those few seconds it takes to open it, is often the difference between a hit or miss with a hostile destroyer cruising by....

to gets the command i have use an old SH3 Programm which shows the Keyboard command.
There is no chance to get a locked symbol for an opened Tube door. The Locks commands need an on/off command from sh4 to show the switched side.
Unfortunally the open door command do not give on/off status. The developers never planed to show lamps for the open tube doors, and therefore they do not programm on/off switches.

This is ery pitty because with the outdoor camera you can see the open or closed tube doors.

Being as color blind as you can get, i love this tool. The stock and some of the other mod colors are too similar to me to see (green-red-yellow), so now i can use the shapes and very different colors to help out. =) very nice.

now if i could only figure out how to add the ID-SHIP command to the bar to id ships id be set.

The Menumaker 2.0 is multiversion. It recognices the version of your silenthunter.

You must start it from your silent hunter main folder. It checks for special settings of the silent hunter versions and switchs automatically to the needed version.

Just a thought. I had a different download where I thought the archive was corrupted. In the end it turned out my virus software thought there was a virus and was stripping it out of the archive when I downloaded it. It was a false positive. The av gave no indication that it was doing this.

It was avast.

The program sounds really cool but the new links require a user name and password.

I tried TMO but I can't read the buttons, I was hoping to make the HUD more readable for me.
