Yes. Some elaboration would be nice-is it going to be a mod, AI only, just something
you're messing around with? The expansion has the XVIII I believe.
^ x2 Take it back to the Atlantic, U-Boats just do not belong in the Pacific... I cannot 'fathom' why people want to have these things in SH4, if you want to play submarines as a German, play SH3 with GWX. Why not devote this creative energy to something realistic, like a playable Japanese submarine campaign. Get over it :damn:

...and whats it's max.speed at schnorkel-depth?
Probably still a whopping 21kts, right?
It's a great sub, but the SH-implementation needs allot of work.
The latest GWX-version brought the XXI to some sort of reasonable standard, but the model still lacks in almost every department.
I hope the upcoming Uboat-addon offers possibilities to bring this Uboat to a full deployment.

Maybe we should have a 688, SSBN or Typhoon in the Pacific too....

Nice pics Xantrokoles (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/member.php?u=238297) :D
The sub looks pretty clean on the exterior. The SH4 engine makes things like this worth doing. The addon will make it even better for those who love the U-boats.

If it isn't easy to get it here, then ordering it from the US is a good idea. If I order a game from the store here, it sometimes takes two weeks... but If I order from the US, sometimes it only takes 3 days
I bought all my Guild Wars games from the US. Much faster.

The people who like SH3 still want SH4's transparent water and better crew management system. There's nothing wrong with that. There's also nothing wrong with the idea of a Japanese submarine campaign, but this is what was released, so it looks like you're the one who'll have to "get over it".:sunny:
I think it might already be in SHIII/GWX to some extent. Looking upwards from beneath the surface I can see the upper part of my boat and the tower. In calm weather anyway. As for the add-on it would to my mind have made far more sense to make a playable set of Japanese submarine missions. U-boats in the pacific does seem a little odd.

I was at the http://www.pacificwrecks.com/search/ website the other day and I noticed that the Germans had a main u-boat base in Penanag, Malaysia starting in late Aug. 1943 with satellite bases in Singapore, Batavia (Djakarta), Surabaya, and Kobe. They also operated Arado Ar196's with Japanese markings.

Well i think part of the reason may be because most of the graphics models and TDC are already there in the SH4 files, left over from SH3

That, plus playable Japanese missions would require playable Japanese submarines, which would require all new interiors, someone to make sure all the Japanese labels are correct, and the hiring of Japanese voice actors; all-in-all a big, long and expensive project.

Oh, ok then, lets just not bother
I'll just sit here now and wait to get flamed by the big gun(s) for daring to have an opinion about a game I particularly enjoy for its REALISM...

Oh, by all means bother. I said there was nothing wrong with it. I think it's a great idea; it's just not as easy as updating what's already there.
And if you did get flamed, it would be because you flamed first...or is "get over it!" what they call "having an opinion" where you come from? You're entire post read as if your "opinion" was the Word of God, and no-one had better disagree.

errr, no...did someone get out of bed on the wrong side this morning? I think that you have read to much into 'get over it', as in 'get over the need to bring U-Boats into a theatre where they historically did not play any major role...' but I'm not going to have this discussion with somebody who is obviously out spoiling for a fight, I'll take my rancour out on a Jap Maru. :arrgh!:

Me, spoiling for a fight? Nay, not so. I read your comments as someone kicking over the sandbox and then objecting when someone took offense.
If I read you wrong I'll back off now. I agree that U-boats in the Pacific are kind of silly, but I see it as the first phase of an integrated game that, as I said, brings SH3 up to snuff. I like all kinds of ships, theirs and ours.
