I dont get it. I installed GWX mod and its great. But when i tried to torpedo a boat the torpedo went 250 meters and then made 180 turn and come right at me. My ship sank because of my own torp turned on me.
Anyone got any explanations???

You fired an acoustic torpedo, it locked onto you, the closest, loudest source? :hmm:

Circle runners are alive and well in GWX.;)
Infact, investigation into the sinking of U-869 points to a circle runner as the cause of her demise.

wow guys. You really made something out of SH3. I say goodbye to SH4 and play SH3 from now on. The GWX mod makes it perfect for me. I LOVE IT!!!
Run slow and quiet next time you fire an acoustic torp. ;)

You always see in the movies "Hot, straight, and normal". Is that why they listened to make sure that the bearing rate of the torp wasn't changing radically which I guess would mean a circle runner?
Can you here your fish running in in SH3?
So, I am assume the thing to do if you get a circular run would be to crash dive?
Finally, are GWX2 circle runs true geometric circles or is there some randomization? Since, most of the time your sub should be making 1-3 kts when taking the shot anway.
Thanks.

This is a new one for me. I listen to the torp when attacking single ships, not during a convoy attack. I wonder if some of the misses were circle runners.
Have never seen a circle runner in GWX. Have had an acoustic chase after me...but no circle runners. Have also had a torpedo bounce off of a ship, get disoriented, and then keep going...in a straight line after me as well.
Two things to do when an acoustic comes after you...kill your noise and/or dive. You can even do both. I think once you get below 20 meters it cannot hit you because it does not go down further than that...but I could be wrong on the depth.

you can listen to your torpedo on the hydrophone after it is fired... it will sound like a medium - high pitched whine.
if the torpedo seems to be changing it's bearing rapidly (and you didnt fire at a target that would warrant a rapid course change) that means you have a circle runner... but it is not that common, and usually only occurs after firing an acoustic torpedo.
I've been hit by my own torpedo but survived because the damage model for subs is so odd compared to ships. It did a lot of damage to the compartment but as I was surfaced the flooding didn't effect me and so I patched up and continued.
Here's hoping that in sh5, if your sub has a big hole in it, it acts like it has a big hole in it.

Yea - in sh3 multiplayer i've been torped a few times by 'friends', and survived. Subs do seem a bit too sturdy sometimes. On the other hand, DCs can end it right quick.

Per the U.S. Coast Guard, it now seems that she was sunk by a coast guard ship that though she'd DC'ed an already exsisting wreck.

A much better end, I think.
