View Full Version : How do you gain access to these battles ?
Gentlemen,
In the Campaigns directory there are what might be called missions but they are not. Are these just for reference if we wanted to move them into single missions or patrols ? I can see no timers to kick off these missions or how to get involved in them.
One in particular is very strange. Pearl Harbor ?? The game doesn't start until Dec 9th, 1941 so this mission or whatever will never work....
Missions or ??? that we don't have access to are....
Battle of Guadalcanal
Battle of Philippine
Battle of Philippine Sea
Battle of Truk
Burma Jawa
Coral Sea
Pearl Harbor
Solomon Islands
Does anyone know why they are there and has anyone seen these battles in the campaign ? If you have seen them in the campaign how did you get involved ?
Regards

Does anyone know why they are there To represent a select few battles in the campaign, historical accuracy asside.
has anyone seen these battles in the campaign I found Kuritas Center force North East of Leyte once. Granted it was for testing purposes, so I'd looked into the campaign layers to get an idea of where to patrol.
how did you get involved As per the above statement: it's either you bump into them by chance or cheat and snoop around the campaign files. As far as the stock game is concerned there isn't much in the way of coordination with HQ regarding these battles, apart from the odd radio broadcast along the lines of, such and such engagement-in this area-be advised.
Paajtor,
I am playing stock....

To see the PH stuff you'd need to go into the UPCData and mess with the start dates for careers.
As for the other missions, if they have .mis files and they have an entry in the campaign.cfg, they will appear. Note that the dates in the Campaign.cfg are NOT the start dates for the battle. Those are dates for loading the mission based on the start of a player PATROL.
Ie: you might have the Midway mission load in April instead of June. Any patrol starting after April will then see Midway if they are in the right place at the right time (in June).

Apparently CareerStart 1 is supposed to start the day before the Japanese attack, but we don't actually get any kind of assignment until the 8th or 9th. Wouldn't it be a kick to actually get involved with the PH attack? Historically, one of the Narwhal boats is supposed to be credited with shooting down one of the attacking planes (I think the Nautilas was in San Diego undergoing a refit).
I suppose it would be a rather hairy mod to program, if at all possible. Just imagine being tied up at the dock and only being able to shoot the AA gun. :hmm:
