An announcement on Mi forum board !


Hello mi friends !

You all must be asking what happened to mi forum boards !

In fact is very simple and sad at the same time, I do not
even know how to start this and try to explain what happened and
how you can not find mi forum and our downloads any more !


yesterday after opening mi Hotmail account I saw a message from
a forum member asking me about the forum cause a error message
saying forum not found was popping out, I have decided to check it
myself thinking that it was one of dose days of downtime that
periodically happens on the forum for tech reasons they just make a cleaning
on the power boards engine for optimization and possible bad content check !

Apparently some Porn and pedophile boards have been growing
among the free-power boards forums and to prevent that they just have sent me
this message after I have asked what was going on !

We've had I think 4 people post/email about losing their boards. Out of thousands of boards removed these are the only complaints. Therefore, the program did as it was suppose to and cleaned out the illegal boards. These boards were general abandoned boards that had been run over with spam (this is why the issue has happened on v2 and not v3 because v3 prevents most if not all spam) and these illegal/immoral spam bots posted their content in these boards.

However, it appears there was either spam of this nature on your board that you might not have seen or a confusion with out system (it is only fair to not rule that out) and the board was removed. Due to the nature of the boards we were removing we do not store backups for them.

I'm a huge fan of forums. I love what they stand for and that is why I'm in this business. I spent 9 hours yesterday adding new templates for v3 users alone. What I'm getting at is I care about helping people make forums, not trying to destroy them.

Obviously you aren't the type of person to intentionally harbor this type of material but I hope you understand our urgency in whipping out so many infected forums. Though so many bad boards were removed I'm sad that even "just" 4 legit forums were caught in the wake.

All I can do is assure you this scan/delete has been done once in nearly 3 years due to a build up of these types of boards and since our new system (v3) is more advanced, it will never need to be done again.

I'd like to offer my services in helping you create a new forum (you could try using v3 instead - or stick with v2) and though I'm limited in how I can try to make this up to you I would also like to offer a full year of ad-free credits to your account as well.

Again, I'm sorry that this happened but I hope you understand our rationale in trying to remove the filth of these adults praying on young children.

I understand the urgency of your cleaning, but
mi forum had nothing to do with it , I used it for mi
graphic work and only that, we had almost 2500 registered members,
and years of graphic work posted on those forum boards,
everything wasted in a single day....

from your cleaning staff department could get there have a look
and then judge if had bad content, I never had problems like this
with you guys but sure this is a huge step back on your image and
professionalism !

The magnitude of their idiocy leaves me at a total loss for any words that could describe it.

That was just sloppy work brought about by sheer laziness on their part and only a moron would trust a bot to do a proper job parsing the posts. They should have made backups regardless because they had to know there would be some false positives. :x

I would e-mail the admins, but my letter got returned saying "Address not found, retard@chromosomedamage.duh".

My deepest condolences to you, JCWolf. I really liked your forums and considered them a second home or a friendly port of call whenever I was out to sea from my home port here at Subsim.

Maybe one of the admins here at Subsim (SubSim?) or BTS can recommend a new host for you, JC, if you feel up to resurrecting the site once more.

Take a look at this link - http://www.simplemachines.org/ - it allows you to download free forum software, customise it and then upload it to YOUR website/space. Look into it and this could never happen again as you & only you have control over what happens etc.

You would be making us no money, you would be using our resources, and you are getting my time now. This is being done for you. Not for us.

As I said, I'm sorry this happened but I clearly explained it wasn't a personal attack on you. In a perfect world we could email every user in advance but that would only warn these pedophile forums to move their users elsewhere before we could remove them.

We have on the adminst panel a back up forum button for nothing,

Next time you correspond with them, IF you correspond to them, you might also point out that their FACTS are inaccurate. If they eliminated 10,000 boards, and have only received complaints from 4, (I assume they are counting yours in with that), then it is NOT 0.0004% as they state that is. According to Microsoft Excel's math functions, it is actually 0.04%

Further, I DID go to the website. Yes, it no longer exists. However, the notice in it's place states

Please make sure you are spelling the forum's URL correctly. Remember, URLs are CaSe SeNsItIvE so be sure to capitalize letters if they require it.

This forum may also have been removed due to a Terms of Service violation or extreme inactivity (no activity for over a year).
Now, IMHO, None of those conditions exist. Therefore, what they have said is, once you notified them, UNTRUE and, therefore, COULD constitute libel in some jurisdictions. That is something I think I might point out to them as well...

You saw the forum, you remember the amount of graphic work from me, Venatore,
AOTDMadMaX, Not counting the Super mods , Guest mods, Special mods , forums...

Do you realize now what Amount of time We have to spend again remaking it step by step !

Not saying that is impossible, in fact i am thinking in attaching the
download section in pages on the main site, this way I'll have at least the downloads secured !

The issue here is that they didn't even bored to sent me a message telling me and others to backup the forums, this is like you go into a store and see a product that is outdated, and without looking into the rest on the Shelfs, you pick them all and just throw them all into the garbage container at the back !

This is the most lazy and sloppy work bunch I have faced on mi life,
I wounder what happened to me if I just do that at mi work !

No, I've never tried setting up web pages etc, I have done assembly & machine language programing way back so I can only imagine the amount of time and effort gone into it, yes I probably would have done my block big time!:damn:

Actually, they could have just 'disabled' all the suspected forums, wait one week for complaints to stream in, and reactivate the ones that are ok. 4 boards isn't too much for a manually post-scan, now is it? There really is no excuse for this. Actually you should take on their offer and use the free hosting to spread the word of their actions... :rotfl:

SxxT happens in life and you have to live with it and move on. Take a deep breath for a minute and look around at the people you care for and love. Losing what you had was annoying to say the least, but unlike losing a loved one you can given time rebuild your site. In ever bad experience in life there is a lesson to be learned. Don't waste any more time or energy on them, move on a more wiser man and learn from this experience.
