Just sunk a Cruiser which dropped quite a few life rafts. The destroyer following it hit one of the rafts and there was an almighty explosion. That can't be normal. Don't know how bad the DD is damaged as i'm trying to avoid the other 5 escorts ATM. EDIT: Make that 10 Escorts, jeeeeeeeezus.

Happens to me quite often.
I agree it's not normal but maybe, since it happen to be japs and they are well known to have a huge sensitivity for honnor, they kill themselves?
Could it be they blow up there rafts themselves just to not have to live in shame about there defeat? :rotfl:

Then why even get in the raft at all? Just go down with the ship.:sunny:

Yes I managed to blow up my spy that I'd just crossed half the world and dodged a hundred DC's to deliver to Qingdao.
I released him and 2 secs later there was a huge fireball as the impact with USS Gar presumably set off the case of dynamite he was smuggling.
Sayonara 007! Of course we didn't mention it in our patrol report;)

Are you using NSM? Maybe the rafts have the invisible ammo zone, too?

I'm using NSM3.3 and see the same effects, so I don't think it's an exploding keel. Perhaps the crew tried to salvage the skippers saki stash?:hmm:

Strange...it never happened to me...even while using NSM!!:hmm:
Well, just to have an idea yuou could search trough NSM files and see if there are also the rafts files. If nsm changed rafts as well as the other ships maybe then nsm is the problem...

I haven't gotten a fireball from this yet, but I once had a deckgunner get injured via a collision with a raft. Not sure how. I believe it was a combination of loading a game where the raft had just been released plus file corruption (Steam Version of this game can be ornery)
Anyways, I'm always irritated by the whole metallic scraping noises I always get when I release the Spy. Makes me feel like I'm messing something up.

even after a ship sinks if another ship crosses over the spot it was at it will record as a ship collision because the game thinks the sunken ship is still there untill it sinks to a set depth so this lasts about 5-10 seconds you dont want to cross the path of a sunken ship.
i think it was just a coincidence the raft was at that spot but if not then the game may be seeing the raft as another ship and give the destroyer a collision damage level as thou it hit another ship
