Hi, I just got Gmax, still learning to use it, but I can;t seem to get it import .obj files, is there a plug in out there for this? I see it is used by some of the people around here, but I can't seem to get it to work?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If you get this application,
You can convert the object files.
So a plug-in may not be needed.
It's free and not bad at all.

Googled it, first result looks promising (obj exporter script)...

Go to the following site and click on mod tools? There is a link to the free Gmax site which, I belive, has what you may need. Anyway it's worth a look.

all looked good, but the thing in privateer's post almost worked, Gmax still didn't take anything it converted. Flakmonkey's post only had a Gmax .obj exporter, and not importer. and Laufen zum Ziel Just had Gmax there.

Which version of GMax have you got?
Only importer I've seen is for 1.2
Some say it works, others say it don't.
I could never export in a consistant way.

Then some company I do work for offered to Pony up for 3DS Max 9.
I snagged of course.

I do have 1.2, so, there is an importer/exporter out there for it?

This is the importer.
Not sure if it's any good.

Hmm, there is no readme, where do I put it?

In your Gmax folders, there should be a scripts folder.
Place it there.
