1.)not sure if this has come up in the past, but has anyone tried doing some type of modification to the deck gun and AA guns. My idea is the casings dropping out and hitting the deck, and rolling off into the ocean. If anyone has ever played IL-2 sturmovik, you can see the casings leaving the undercarage of the aircarft.
2.)Releasing debris as a decoy for destroyers and esccorts with lets say a minimal of one time, examples oil, mattresses, lifejackets, etc. fired out of one of the torpedo tubes. Or even if you have dead crewman, allowing a lifejacket strapped to the body to be fired out of one of the tubes to save the rest of the ship. Saw this in a WWII movie once, the Jap destroyer bought into it, but for SHIII. Destroyers would actually have to stop to look investigate the debris, allowing you for a shot, but lets say once per mission.
3.)Another, capitol ships returning to port with all hands on deck and uboats.
4.)Pots and pans slamming to the deck during depth charge attacks if close enough. Crew panicking.
5.) I'm usually never inside the control room during a depth charge attackso I may not hear everything going on, usually navigating to get away or the external underwater view, but does the water rise if that compartment is flooding, and can you make it look realistic? I know the pipes leak, but the amount of water actually rising as the compartment is flooding, and decreasing as it's repairing. My theory is you shouldn't be able to see the crews feet and legs when the water rises to these levels.
6.) The AA guns are bent when damaged and put out of action, is it possible to due this to the inside of the ships hull if seriously damaged?

Thanks for your time, please feel free to share your thoughts on these idea's.

Hello jimmie:
First, welcome to SS, I hope you enjoy the place...
Now, to the subject...
Your ideas seem very interesting, and they certainly would add a lot of atmosphere to the game, but I am not sure if they can be implemented. I am not into modding that kind of stuff, it's beyond my knowledge and ability, but for sure there many talented modders here like privateer, Racerboy (AWOL :rotfl: ), Bigboywooly and many more that don't come to my mind right now. :damn: (Sorry for all the names I forget to mention).
Be patient and for sure someone will respond in more favorable terms to your questions. ;)

OK, Here we go.
These are just my opinions, take them or leave them as you wish.
Remember, You asked!!

To do the shell ejections several factors come into play.
1. We need new animations.
2. They need linked by Hex Editing. No nodes exist for them so even S3D is useless here.
3. FPS would take a MAJOR hit for little return.

Release debris.
Possible if we mod the bold, maybe.
But ships would not stop. We can not control when an AI unit stops.

All hands on deck.
To many areas would need modded.
Animations created, etc.

Same with the pots and pans.

Water flooding the interior.
I see no way at all to do this at this time.
(Note I said "At this time" NEVER say NEVER!!)

Inside hull damage.
See above.

All good ideas mind you.
:yep:

Well, as for 1 and 4, I would think that you could at least add the sound of cartrigaes falling on the deck, and the like. Thats about the extent of my knowledge on that part.

As for 2, the game does implement a decoy, which works about the same, except, it would just distract the Destroyers and the DC it, instead of you, I guess if you really wanted to you could change the model to look like something, but it would just float underwater.

5 and 6, I suppose it could be possible, but I would think that it would be unlikely that it could be modded to look right. With new animations and triggers and the like.

Thats my thoughts on it. Hope they were almost helpful.
