Just like the title says, here are some of the skins that ships in the mod will use at the beginning of the war.

Another modern British merchant; this one is slightly larger at about 6,000 tons. It's fast and will be hard to catch, even when you're running on the surface.

The first version is tankers and cargo ships. I would like to do coastal craft next, especially since they would go together well with the S-Boot development that is taking place.

Yes, Esso owned a lot of tankers back then. In fact a lot of the ships in the mod that don't bear the "Esso" logo are still owned by subsidiaries/related companies.

Most of them are based on several historical ships that I like. I usually aim to give each vessel a modern or old-fashioned feel, instead of imitating a specific ship exactly.

It's actually flag etiquette (as there are no international rules) to have the hoist edge of the flag facing the direction of travel. You'll see this a lot nowadays where flags are painted on planes.

In essence that's exactly it - the flag must never be seen to be retreating; always advancing.

It's for the same reason that animals in both flags and aeroplane roundels face the direction of travel (in flags that means towards the flagstaff).
