Hello all,

Trust me, I've read the dox, I've read as many post as I care to read anymore, and I still can't find a comprehensive answer.

I am trying to play SH4 with the latest/greatest of ROW, TM, and RSRD and I know the order to install, but am I to assume that overwriting using JSGME is ok?

In the TM dox it says that the sub_reflects file in ROW could overwrite things, so do I take everything out of the mod and just include the sub.dat files and let them over write the TM files? or vice versa?

I'll be installing thusly:
ROW
TM
RSRD

Per the 1.4 Compatibility thread, and I've got some graphic updates after that, sub skins, warships, etc...

Thanks, and I know this has been gone over and over and over, but I couldn't find a proper answer.

All I can tell you is DON't add the ROW pitch and row Mod after TM. I tried that and it screwed up TM big time. I really can't tell you what to do at this stage. But I did add all ROW mods then TM, then TM sounds, then TM GFX.

I put environmental mods in first then playing mods after
so for me
its

all of Row followed by RFB
or all of ROW followed by TM

depending on which install im using

Just follow the directions of install as per the readme of each mod. Don't worry about the JSGME telling you of an overwrite. As long as the mods are compatable, the overwrite is OK. In your example, I think you're OK. Install ROW first, the TM version that is ROW compatable, the RSRD version for TM, and finally your skins. Accept the overwrite, since these files were made to work with one another. Hope that helps some.

Awesome answers all!!! Exactly the sort of re-inforcement I was looking for.

Thanks!

I did have one other question, this was concerning JSGME mainly.

When you remove a mod that overwrote something previous, will it restore what it overwrote, or will it default to SH4?

For example, let's say I do the:

ROW
TM
RSRD

order, and I also install a soundpack later on. And that soundpack overwrites things in TM. What happens if I remove that soundpack? Will it revert to the TM files it overwrote, or will it revert to the SH4 defaults?

Thanks,

I installed the latest TM mods followed by the ROW mods with no issues. I did not install the ROW_Sub_Reflections_and_Roll_Pitch_vs_5 mod as this will cause issues with TM. :D

Since TM is split into three parts. You can load the main file and omit the Graphics part which does have ROW components in it; then you can go with the complete ROW thing as you like;

My install order is:

1_TM
2_TM_Graphics
3_TM_Sounds
couple of ROW files plus the new sky and ocean controls; these files do not overwrite anything in TM.
RSRDC latest version plus patch...

I have cut way down on mods it just keeps trouble away and things run better.
