Hi all,

Thanks to work/travelling I've not been playing SH3, or getting involved on this website since at least December!

Only now am I planning on installing GWX2.0 !! (thanks work! :nope:)

So I have a couple of questions/comments if I may:

Firstly, I read that GWX 2.1 is soon to be available - is this going to be in the form of a patch or a completely new installer as well?

Having spent some time reading through a lot of the threads I've missed, any news on RacerBoys excellent SH4 Effects mod for SH3? - I hear it's not compatible?

I see the excellent OLC GUI is available (great work there mate!) - I have only seen the latest screenshots but can't wait to get back to using that.

That raises another point however, I now read that the excellent U-Boat 1.2 mod by JCWolf is available with some patches in-progress/released - can I install that with OLC's GUI because of the map tools changes etc?

And what's with the GWX weather fix mod I see, is that required to play properly?

Finally, one thing I have always wanted to change is the English description names on the screens we use. For example, at the periscope we have (in English) Torpedo Settings. Blame Babelfish if its wrong, but the German for 'settings' is Einstellungen (??)

And in the map screen we have all the buttons/dials in English as well.... Is it possible these can be changed to their correct German names? It does lose some of the atmosphere when we have the crew yelling in German, and the sub is German, listening to German music but all switches have English names.....

Anyway, I'll leave it there. Please bear with me for a while, I may post some more questions soon as I've missed so much on this website! I used to regularly visit this site, often daily, so I have a lot of catching up to do!

Cheers

You are right about the effects mod incompatibility. Racerboy's latest version does not work properly with GWX. He said he was going to try to release a new, compatible version after 2.1 came out but I do not know the status.

I am not familiar with the other mods/proposed mods' compatibility, so you might want to pm the creators for more information.

OLC GUI and U-boat 1.2 are incompatible. Someone merged them but the his PM's to me got deleted a while back (bloody 100PM limit!) and I can't find the [REL] thread now...

But anyway, OLC GUI updates are still being released and there's a U-boat 1.2 patch in the works, so I suspect the two mods are already out-of-sync and will remain that way, unless someone can be bothered to do a merge every time an update to either mod is released.

It's really good! No it's not required. BTW, it'll be included in GWX 2.1

This would be really easy to do, and in such a way that it could be released as a tiny add-on that should work with just about any GUI. If you feel like doing it, PM me and I'll tell you how.
