I'd like to change the icons in OLC's GUI ,I dont care much for the brown wallpaper look of the 1940s.I have downloaded JCWolfs' icons but they appear to be incompatible with OLC_GUI_1.20 but have not located any more recent ones.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:o

GWX2.0 OLC_GUI 1.20

Brown wallpaper? :o :huh:

Anyway...

The officer icons included in OLC GUI 1.2 are JCWolf's, actually, but that's beside the point... when you say "incompatible" what do you mean exactly? They should be compatible if you install them in the right order (GUI first).

Brown wallpaper...........when I was a kid inthe early 1940s,my mother and my sisters used to drag me round visiting ancient relatives....the houses always seemed to be decorated indark brown colours !!
Anyway (as you say).......I D/L from JCwolf site,unpacked into MODS folder,used JSGME to add to GWX2, (OLC_GUI_1.20 already installed), and finally installed Icons (file dated 3/3/06).Restarted GWX and loaded saved mission from Base........but no change.:o

Which officer icons are you referring to?

The ones on the Crew/Uboat Damage screen?

Or the ones on the lower right corner where you select the various stations?

Would you post a screeny of JSGME showing what mods are enabled? Also, please check the folder structure of the icons mod you're trying to use. Is it, for example,

"MODS\JCW Icons\data\..." etc.

or is it...

"MODS\JCW Icons\some other folder\data\..." etc. ?

The second one is incorrect and would cause the problem you describe.

If you are talking about the ones on the Crew/U-boat "Damage Screen" the you can find a version in my "Drive Through", my version is universal and each officer is the same, have a look anyway and see if its to your liking, if not then you can walk the plank :arrgh!:

Not sure how to post screenies.....however,there are only two activated mods........OLC_GUI_1.20 and JCWs' Icons.
File description JCW_Officer_Icon_MoD -(note text cases ).

Please don't misunderstand me.I think your mod is truly excellent....I just prefer the pictures in the icon view.

CaptJC,

Step by Step Image Display:
Take a in game screen-shot select [Ctrl + F11]Remember to lower your dials by selecting [Number-pad Del] this will ensure you get a good picture without any visual distractions.

Always ensure you have the sun in the right place so the members can see the better detail, too many members take screen-shots with the majority of the view in poor light, have a look at my screen-shots in my Drive Through [U-boat skins] and you will see what I mean.
This screen-shot will now be located in Program Files/Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII.
Move this screen-shot to a separate folder of your choosing.
You now need to change this screen-shot from a BMP image to a JPEG image.If you are unaware how to do this there are plenty of conversion software products, my weapon of choice is Paint Shop Pro Photo XI [this is not freeware], but if you are after a freeware software product then you can have a look at some of these sites;

http://www.acasystems.com/en/screencapturepro/
http://www.gimp.org/windows/
http://www.irfanview.com/
http://www.xnview.com/
http://www.getpaint.net/
http://park18.wakwak.com/%7Epixia/
You must now change the screen-shot to a resolution size of 640x480.
You are now ready to upload to a hosting image site. Once again there are many to choose from. I use/prefer Photobucket, its free and a very user friendly web site, here is the link;
http://photobucket.com/
Upload your image.
Once it is up-load copy the image link and paste it to your Subsim post. To do this as you are writing your post look at the tool bar and you will notice a yellow square with looks like a mountain and a little square in the top right of the yellow square itself.
Click on that square and paste your Photobucket image link into it. Continue with your post and select submit.
You should now see the image in your post.Sorry for the extreme detail. In the other SHIII forum will will also find Dowly's sticky thread on this subject. I hope this helps.

Ven;)

CaptJC,

Make sure when you go to put the image link into the yellow square box with the mountain you will need to get rid of the parts marked in red;

example:
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/01.jpg

So it should look like this when you submit the image;

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/Venatore/01.jpg

Hope this helps ;)
