Okay... fresh on the heals of my unfortunate the-next-time-you-save-from-this-point-you-will-be-registered-as-dead problem that caused me to forfeit a most lucrative patrol, I last night encountered a bizarre glitch before being thrown out of the sim and back to my desktop.

Situation: First patrol out of Kiel, 1939, Type IIA. Sailed into Hartlepool for a nice and easy duck-shoot, alerted an armed trawler* who started depth-charging to my stern, took a quick look through the 'scope and then saw him (too close to one of his own charges?) TUMBLING DOWNWARDS REPEATEDLY FROM 50 FEET ABOVE WATER LEVEL for about five seconds before CTD.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

*Not a destroyer, as previously stated.

I've seen it with smaller vessels that have either been torpedoed or hit a mine.

It sounds as if you've run afoul of an armed trawler... not a DD.

Have you downloaded and applied the ASW trawler fix from the GWX 2.1 update thread first post?

Kpt Lehmann... now you mention it, it was a little small for a DD. I am so sorry not to have thoroughly investigated the post you mentioned before fretting about this. Downloading now...

I had exactly the same problem (incl CTD) with an ASW trawler outside Dover. I was at peri depth and flank speed and I believe the ASW trawler blew its own tail off with depth charges.
