Last night I ambushed a Japanese comvoy in the South China Sea between Singapore and Borneo. The lead escort was Fubuki class DD and I hit it with one torp (impact, midship) which started a fire. The DD also came to a dead stop.

I then went on to sink a couple of merchants. However the DD managed to get underway again and I hit it once more with a down-the-throat shot which exploded under the keel. More fires started.

I was eventually forced away by another escort, but the damaged DD was steaming along quite fine, albeit on fire.

My SH3 experience tells me that 2 hits should be enough to sink, or at least cripple, any DD. However the DD was able to make 30 kts whilst damaged.

Is this normal? A bug?

Running TM 175 + RSRDC only. Only other mod is Environment 2.0 (graphics only I suppose, so it shouldn't affect gameplay).

Download NSM (Natural sinking mechanic).

The stock game has a hitpoints based damage systems, wich mean that if you don't bring the DD hitpoints to 0 he won't be destroyed.

NSM replace this with a complety new remodeled damage system, no more based on hitpoints.

Find the Post sticky on this forum about it.

Thanks. As I will be using TM 176 + RSRDC what version of NSM is compatible? I'd also prefer the "lite" version.

Does this mean that in the stock game the hit points for the DDs are set too high? Is there a simple mod that tones this down to a more "seems real enough" level?

This is the version i'm using with both TM and RSRDC. It's the light version. Werner is also on the edge of releasing NSM 4, wich i think is going to be a hit.

Just install it over all your other mods, you won't be loosing anything from TM.
