I recently altered a FooBar High-res skin for the Porpoise Class sub. I added a picture of a girl on a torp on the side of the conning tower. The only problem is that all other subs of the same class has the same thing. Is there a way to distinguish one from the other? I found myself shouting at the skipper of the other boat how could he date my girlfriend.:rotfl:

Lame joke, sorry...to get serious, no, you can't. At least in this game you can make separate skins for each sub class (er...almost). I remember when I was playing Sid Meier's Pirates!, I had made a set of black sails...when I tested it out in-game, EACH and EVERY ship was flying black sails! All of a sudden, I had created an army of Black Pearls sailing through the Carribbean :p

Actually, I think you can. I'm no .upc-file guru so I am not sure if this works, but I think it will. In any way, backup the 'My Documents\SH4\' folder because I don't want to be responsible for you losing your career :oops:

First you must revert the original texture (restore it). Save your new texture next to it and name it differently, ie.: MyCustom_NSS_Pclass_T01.tga

Then go to 'My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\SaveGames' and open the last savegame folder. Open the ActiveUserPlayerUnits.upc and find the first 'TextureName' entry. Should look like this:

TextureName=data/Submarine/NSS_Porpoise/NSS_Pclass_T01.tga

Change it to:

TextureName=data/Submarine/NSS_Porpoise/MyCustom_NSS_Pclass_T01.tga

and load game.

Not sure whether you need to be in port for this. Maybe it's better if you do. If someone else with experience could confirm this, or slap me in the face that be great :)
