View Full Version : not getting credit for small freighters

Twice now in the same patrol I sank a small freighter but did not get credit for it sinking. Nor did the NO announce it's sinking, or the game in any way (other than visual) react to the ships sinking.

I'm running GWX 2 with U-boat 1.2 for GWX. It's November '39 (after four --alas, fatal-- late year patrols I decided to start at the other end of the spectrum :p ) and I'm just east of Southend. The weather is 6m wind and clear. Both times I engaged the small freighter with my deck gun. Both times they most definitely sank. Neither time did I get credit for that.

This is, by the bye, an FYI and not a bitch. ;)

Failure to award renown on occasion is a long standing Stock SH3 game engine problem.

The save-game routines in SH3 are not always 'dependable.'

Not much we can do about it AvH.:-?

I've heard about that before, just have never experienced it. I'd only mentioned it because it had happened twice during the same patrol, several days apart, and with the same ship class. I don't know if it'll fail to award renown (as I'm still in the patrol) but I do know that it 1) didn't register on my patrol log, and 2) the game didn't seem to recognize they had sank (ex., no 'music' and crew cheers, the NO not announcing 'she's going down').

That's what made me go 'huh'. Well, that, and having it happen twice with the same ship class. Like I said, this was an FYI and not a bitch so, if it is just a stock game glitch, it's good to know. Thanks!
