I was patrolling off the West coast of Scotland when I recieved a radio message informing me of a "small neutral convoy.....etc" It showed ip on the Navmap not as the ususal square contact marker, but as a circle - just like a friendly U-Boat. Is this right, or do I have a problem?

This has happened to me twice now. In a recent WAW patrol I had the same thing. I changed course to intercept the convoy and found it. I approached the herd at night, was in perfect firing position just minutes away from letting go with my first eels then explosions on the far side. Turned out to be a convoy that had an AI U boat attached. Escorts began going crazy, searchlights etc. The ships all began to zig zag ruining my shot so I skulked away.

Bottom line is I think if a U-boat or maybe even an allied sub is attached to the convoy, that is the symbol that shows up on the map.

Perhaps one of the GWX team can clarify this.

The symbol circle/diamond/square...take yer choice  is representative of the lead vessel in the formation.

Yestareday I got a "Large enemy convoy" report and caught it W of Gibraltar. One of escorts was a submarine, but the convoy was marked with it's usual square on the map, not a circle.

May I refer you to #4.....It is the lead vessel that dictates what symbol is displayed http://www.psionguild.org/forums/images/smilies/wolfsmilies/pirate.gif
