View Full Version : Mod request - a few ideas of really "micro" mods

First, I do not "request" or "demand" anything, I just suggest, put ideas. I have no idea how they could be done, so maybe somebody (you?) will be able and happy to do it. I'd then be even more happy to use the mods. :)

1. STFUYSG, i.e. STFU You Sonar Guy!
The sonar guy really drives me crazy when in the middle of convoy. KONTAAAKKT!!!! Just another option for him "do not report ANYTHING", or even "report only what you were asked for you stupid Kraut" would be lovely (he could repond then: "You are a stupid Kraut too... err... Herr Kaleun!").

2. GBITYBSYLWOWY, i.e. Go Back Immediately To Your Batte Station You Lazy Watch Officer, Won't You?
When I dive just to do a sonar check and then surface, my watch crew goes to the bridge BUT the Watch Officer. I have to manually put him there every time, and that's really annoying. And I really need him there any time as I get cold easily and cannot stand the ever lasting storms.

3. IYANNNINTTSGTCRIGSJFYYOSLWO, i.e. It's You Again?! No No No, It's Not Time To Sleep, Go To Command Room, I Got Some Job For You, You Oh So Lazy Watch Officer.
When I dive, my WO goes to crew quarters or to torpedo room (if quarters are not free) instead of taking place in command room at any free station. Another quite annoying thing worth fixing, I think.

4. NYBOFBYWJSHAWTBGTTBYSPO!, i.e. No You Bunch Of Lazy Bastards, You Won't Just Sit Here And Watch The Boat Going To The Bottom You Stinky Petty Officers!
A regular sailor always automatically goes to a proper room, for example when the boat dives, they move from diesels toelectric engine, but the perry officers (when without qualification or with improper one) stay in the same place, unless manually moved. The same applies to moving whole the crew from one room to another (left click on target room, right click on source room).
When moved, they could mourn "Oh no, not again!". :D

5. MKM, Macro Key Mod
I'd love to have a mod that lets me assign a shortcut key to a certaind depth/speed. For example I press 5 on NumPad and my boat goes to 20 metres at 5 knots. That could be easily set by the user with just a txt file editing. I suppose that is achievable through SetKeys, but SetKeys stil refuses to work on my PC.

Uff. That's all for now. Maybe this all coud be done? :88)

If hes annoying me, I just take him out of the sonar room. Or ask him to follow the nearest warship, which is indeed a very very good option.

This is a stock SH3 bug and its probably hardcoded.

Whenever you dive all the crew is put in the quarters to rest, as they were outhere in the CT and they are pretty tired. This is also probably hardcoded.

The crew in any silent hunter is pretty dummy... they wont fix a leaking even if its dripping in his head. This is probably also hardcoded.

This is pretty easy to do, via the cfg files or the SetKeys. And why won't it work on your pc?

If hes annoying me, I just take him out of the sonar room. Or ask him to follow the nearest warship, which is indeed a very very good option.
But it's time consuming, it's a few clicks more to do - many when in action. What's more, moving him from his battle station could have a negative impact on crew's morale. :)

This is a stock SH3 bug and its probably hardcoded.
Too bad, too bad. But maybe some day somebody... :)

Whenever you dive all the crew is put in the quarters to rest, as they were outhere in the CT and they are pretty tired. This is also probably hardcoded.
There is never any free room for an officer in my quarters so he always goes to torpedo room. That's absurd, as I'd most probably need him in the Command Room, not for hugging torpedoes. :)

The crew in any silent hunter is pretty dummy... they wont fix a leaking even if its dripping in his head. This is probably also hardcoded.
Again too bad. Assigning a qualification to everyone in the crew would be a "fix", but in turn it would spoil the efficiency - all the bars would be all green. :( I'd really wish to keep the bars as they are now, it simulates my crew proficiency (or lack of proficiency), but this micromanaging petty officers during battle (or when DAMAGED) is really sick (I tend to have as few petty officers, as possible, as a result, and that is not quite accurate to).

And why won't it work on your pc?

Thanks for quick reply. :ping:

Abd_von_Mumit, I think you may be able to fix at least one of your troubles which is the issue with petty officers.

When you are at your home base between missions and sitting in your office, go to the "Personnel" management screen where you hand out medals, promotions, qualifications, etc. You can assign stations to each crewman by simply dragging them to the part of the u-boat you wish them to have as their regular task.

Unfortunately this does not work for setting up crew shifts, but it is useful for making sure your best men are on the job when you click a compartment to be manned when you need them.

This doesn't work for the Watch Officer, either. You still have to make him go topside to the bridge yourself.

This is how it works for me but I will admit I do not know a lot of details about crew management. If there are any more experienced Kaleuns out there who can add to or correct this information, please do so for Abd_von_Mumit.
