Do you mean the TDC & Tube status?

If so, there are modelled 3d versions in the Control Room @ the WO station & also in the internal conning tower.

:hmm: Huh!

The 'Christmas Tree' is a dashboard of Red/Green light indicators which show the status of tubes doors etc.

So that when your diving, you know you have no holes in the boat.;)

Of course, the US fleet boats had them, not sure about the U-Boats.

Also, if the OP actually means a real Christmas Tree

Hang this over the head:

I beleive that in US subs, there was a bank of lights that showed that status of hull openings, it was called the "Christmas tree". Don't know if German subs had the same thing.

Darn! Danlisa beat me by a minute!!

Don't know if German subs had the same thing.

Well, using the historically acurate portrail of U-571, they did.:rotfl:

Probably means they didn't.

Dunno.

Hey, I liked that part:

"WHITE FOR GREEN? WHITE FOR GREEN?"

Klar!?! Klar?! Klar?! Everythings in german!

White for green?! White for green?!

(i hate to admit it, but ive watched that movie more then once. Gimme a break, its not like we have this broad selection of movies to choose from)

As an aside the "xmas tree" showed status of all hull openings. Main induction valve, tanks, torpedo tubes etc.

Heres a VR of U505's, in the CR, you'll see it to the right of the planesman stations.

Hers a VR of the USS Pampanito, same location, different color, and alot more hull openings.

Always thought that the "christmas tree" of the u-boat was the box with red lights only next to the ladder to the coning tower;the front of the device is facing the engine telegraphs, and in SH3, the chief engineer.

Jimbuna, when I first saw that pic, also thought that their were celebrating Christmas, but their are in fact celebrating the oak leaves of their commander, but You know that.

I have always thought that it was the compressed-air valves that was called the "christmas tree"!?

I don't know if the u-boatmen used the same terms, but to an American submariner "Christmas tree" was always the 'open/closed' indicator panel, simply because the 'open' lights are red and the 'closed' lights are green.

And obviously Ducimus' links answered the "do u-boats have them" question in the affirmative.
