I see a lot of posts where people are experiencing various issues mostly related to mod conflicts. It's very easy to get so caught up in the whole 'mod' thing that you are forever adding mods and working out conflicts and you never actually get to enjoy playing the game.
I run TM and all the ROW mods. My game looks and feels great, and I won't be adding anything else in the near future.
Mods are great, but keep it simple and enjoy the game. :D

I agree wholeheartedly. Enjoy the Game.
For some though, working out the conflicts IS the game and I support that as well.

To me, the game is a successful Convoy/Task Force attack followed by a stealthy escape and then surfacing to experience one of Dave's awesome sunsets. That's Silent Hunter 4 to me. :D

Yep, my thoughts exactly. I've had some folks anguishing over which mod do I use or in what order should they be run to be compatible? Look this game is FUN, all by itself. The mods out here are mainly fluff, just superficial coatings to a generally solid game. There's nothing like getting your first convoy sighting and planning a successful attack, even with the computer finding the data for you. The eye candy will just make you fat!!
I think one of the neatest things to do is fire your deck gun and immediately pause the game. Use the Free Camera to head to the target and position yourself on the deck (yes the camera will move in position with the game paused). Unpause the game and waiting just a few seconds you'll hear the unmistakable sound of incoming fire. The boat will even rock with an accurate hit. What fun!!

Bingo
I've been known to go quite overboard on the modding, whether it be SH3, SH4, or FS2004, and I found that I didn't have any time to play the damn thing. I was always worried that I didn't have the best "build", forget that, play the game.
Just got my best build. TM with ROW and RSRD and i am loving every minuit. Also put in Foo's new recognition manual much easier to use than the old one.
The game now feels finished to me and it's fantastic:rock:

Yes, enjoy the game, and stop asking/spaming/pestering Ducimus with questions hes answered over and over again ad nauseum via every method of communication imaginable. I hear his next door neighors contemplating calling the men in the white coats after hearing alot of irrational explantives coming out of his apartment. Rumor has it, he was found, head in hands, repeatidly asking "Why? Why? Why?" over and over again to no one in particular. I give him another week before he cracks like an egg.

I 100% agree with you:up:
When I was patched to 1.3 there were no problems at all, now on the 1.4 patch it's CTD. :damn:
But I'm using the JSGME and if that tells me there is a conflict that's that and I don't load it. You could say JSGME is my warning, since paying attention I am OK now.

Ducimus, the ice maker in my refrigerator stopped working. It was working fine until I installed TM on my computer. :rotfl: :rotfl: You need to look into this ASAP!:rotfl:

What I'd really enjoy is a comfortable toilet in the boat- and REAL toilet paper! Not last month's Stars and Stripes issue. Also, I don't mind tying Ducimus to my bow. He'd make a scary mascot to scare the enemy, dontcha think?:rotfl::arrgh!: Reason? TM screwed up my game- had to re-install it. Damn you, Ducimus, damn yooooooooooooouuuuuuuuu!:rotfl:

You got patched? How unfair! I'm still playing with me in vanilla edition, including the 'Von, you need to quit SHIV and sleep now' bug. :arrgh!:

If you are a JSGME Addict , then do yourself a favor and create two installs, one to play and one for your daily " fix " so to speak.
But remember, it is a great game, it is meant to be played, so make sure you take the time to do just that. Nice thread.

Yes, when I first started out last year, I went "Mod Crazy"! It happens! Right now things are cool, 1.4, TM plus ROW and its patrol city. Plus its less frustrating dealing with Japanese AC and DD's than trying to pin down that mod conflict.

:rotfl: This post should be read while listening to "They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!" by Napolean XIV. They'd have to change it from the Dr Demento show to the Dr Ducimus show, though.:arrgh!:

Don't tell me what to enjoy and not to enjoy! I'll have a bad time and whine if I feel like it!
And don't tell my to have a nice day, either! I'll have a lousy day if I want to!

What gets me are the blowups around here about things like the "correct" deck gun rate of fire in a mod. Modders are doing this stuff for free, which should protect them from the griping and nitpicks that one is entitled to when one is actually paying for something. In other words, save your complaints for Ubisoft! Just be happy that so many intelligent people are working hard to make mods that cater to so many tastes. Dedicated communities like this remind me about why I am a PC gamer.
PS. I am a compulsive tinkerer (though sadly have little time for full blown mod creation) and keep three Data folders around - one with RFB, one with TM and a stock folder so I can swap them out whenever I feel like a change. So thanks all on this board for supporting my habit.
Dear modders,
On this side of the Ocean I'm using ROW and TM on top of SH4 (best christmas present by far) to have some relaxing fun that's quit harmless. I really enjoy the game and with admiration I read a lot of the threads. It is of a high standard, I love experts. My daytime job is to get about 400 of them working together. I'm the general manager and will never be loved by the experts. Not enough resources, the damned e-mails, staff meetings, pep-talks. They hate me. I only have one rule. NEVER will you disrespect a fellow expert and drive him nuts:down: So If you are going on like this I will cross the ocean in real life with my beloved wife, who is in fact a expert in psychotherapy. In fact that will be the first time that she can directly benefit from the fact that I love the game. :rotfl: Normally I only get a comment when I neglect my duties: For instance, In the middle of a battle and I promised to go for a walk with the dog (he is an Alaska Malamute and the son of our beloved Aniuk, that passed away a couple of years ago, and claims his 1 hour walk with a loud voice). No way I can dive deep enough, they always get me in the end!:damn:
So leave Ducimus alone. He is one of the best:know:  I WILL NOT SAY THIS AGAIN.:nope:
Have fun playing, have fun modding. Get the best of both worlds. To tell you the thruth. www.subsim.com (http://www.subsim.com) is the best forum on the internet for me. I check it daily, on my blackberry, the laptop and of course in my sub (know by the family as the study:rotfl: :rotfl: ).
I really hope that Ducimus will stay as crazy as he is right now. It's ROW and TM for me that makes this game the best.
God bless you all, wherever you are. Got to dive now. The wife is shopping with our two adult daughters, can't go with them. Have to work. Staff meeting monday.:p  Aniuk
edit: Now you also know why they hate me for my e-mails. The boss is a idiot, what is he trying to say. Leave us alone! (used to be an expert myself)
