It is introduced by TM. It's a very nice touch, i find myself geting more attached to my boat and crew as i have been with them from the very begining

How do you activate new construction?

When you create a new career, i think in the start date drop down list box, go all the way down to the bottom.

Ahhhhh... that explains why I have never seen it. I almost never start a late war career. I figure that most of the fun is over by mid-1944.

I'll try that option the next time I die. :)

Ducimus,
A couple of clarifications, if you please:
1. I started in 1942, & was assigned the USS Drum. I read somewhere that it is always this boat, is it fixed or random?
2. Is the assignment to Pearl Harbor fixed? There was only one choice in the transfer menu. I would prefer a posting to Fremantle or Brisbane.
3. How exactly am I supposed to do the transfer anyway? I thought it would be automatic, but I guess I have to put in a request via the telephone in the office? In which case, I'll have to do this before taking on the mission to sink Ens Parker? :rotfl:
Because when I tried to get a new mission after completing all the sea trials (thinking it would ask me to deploy to my new base) I got the same mission again, even though I had successfully completed all objectives the first time around.

Thanks.

Sorry, one more Q. How do I report with my sub to the new base? Is it like in SH3, where you put in your request, go out on patrol then return when completed, and the next time you start you'll be automatically placed at your new base?

1.) Random. Sometimes it will assigned the same boat twice though

2.) Where a boat can transfer to, depends if that flotilla has assigments for your boat type. For the most part, boat assigments loosely follow historical record. Gato's didn't show up in the australian ports tell a bit later in the war. The F1 help menu has a section on boat availaliblity.

3.) See items 14, and 15 of the TM FAQ

edit:From FAQ ("NOTE: If your next assigment isn't to Honshu, then you have a repeat of the 3rd sea trial. Sad to say, do it again. There is no point in forcing a transfer if your next assigment isn't to japanese waters.")

Alternately you can transfer, dock, accept the mission as failed, and let the game assign you a new mission rather then redo the 3rd sea trial.
