Without a doubt, a P-51. Probably a D configuration. USAAF markings. D-Day stripes...

I suspect Adriatico knew that already...he was speaking from the viewpoint of the German crew.
Of course the D-Day markings are at least a year too early...:sunny:

:rotfl: Of course, I know... it's just a joke... :rotfl:
Nice point:up: inv. stripes should not be in 1943.
My u-boat knowledge is very modest  compared to my first love - WWII arial combat:know: history, simulations,...

I wasn't actually refering to you artwork directly - there were others who were seemingly guessing(?) that it was a NA P-51D, I was merely confirming that. I figured you had to know, since you made the artwork.
As for aviation - When I was a kid, it was one of my biggest dreams to be a pilot. Never being able to fully achieve this for one reason or another was one of the biggest heartbreaks of my life so far. I even enrolled in Civil Air Patrol because we were supposed to be given the opportunity to fly - B-1 bombers took our funding. I still enjoy aircraft but not in the same way I did then.
Looks like a P-51....
It is the P-51 the Cadillac of the sky!:yep:
One of the most beautifull planes in WWII !
