...I installed T.M. Liked some, didn't like some. So, I read the FAQ Readme and it said you can change things around. My question is- How do you know what to change? I mean in the data file I really don't know what to do. I want to remove the altered task bar (that pink looking thing really gets me). Get back the two cameras that were taken out (I tried following the instructions on how to return them in the readme but it isn't showing up). I have to admit I don't like the gameplay and controls in TM very much but the rest is ok like the detailed map and new backdrop in the start up menus. Another thing happened. I uninstalled the mod using the generic mod enabler and now the graphics look awful. What's happening here?

Tough luck, you need to look through the files inside a mod, and look for alterations. Many of changes are pretty self-explanatory (e.g. altered .sim or .cfg files), some might be harder to uncover, especially if some changes require multiple files to act. Well, nobody said it's easy to be a modder ;)

Well, at least someone should know how to get the detailed map and the background menus.

Have you tried to contact the mod author? ;)

That's one of the things I always liked about Beery's mods (RUB and RFB): his readme listed every single file that was changed, which made it very easy to work with.

Funny you should mention RFB. I'm downloading it now together with a complete ROW. May go back to Sober's Super Mod, RSRDC. I sent Ducimus a PM about TM.

I used to do that, but i found myself spending as much time documenting changes, as i spent making acutal changes. Considering the size and scope of the mod, i opted to make just general descriptions of the changes, and instead concentrate on getting the job done. I simplyi had to make maximum use of my time, documenting indetail every little data change, wasnt very time efficient.
Now, as the the orginal question multitide of questions. Im not sure how to answer that. Basically its saying, i like pieces of the mod, but i dont like the mod, how do i break it up into little bitty pieces? Well, thats just the nature of using mods. Theres always going to be things you like, and things you don't like. Thats what got me into modding to begin with. I'd download a mod, "hey i like this!" spend a litlte more time with it, "hmm but i dont like this". So i know how it is. But Right now, i just woke up, i havent had my coffee yet, and to be honest, i really dont feel like going through the files explaining every little this that and the other thing.

if you used the minitweaker to try and make changes it is possible that when you tried getting those cameras back you must have still had the mod enabled. this is fine for changes made to the mod but when jsgme goes to uninstall the mod, it only undoes the changes it made when it installed the mod and leaves whatever other changes you made there and as a result it merges with the stock file corrupting it. i believe thats why your grafics are messed up.
replace your corrupted cameras.dat file with a clean copy from stock game to fix your stock unmodded version and if you want the cameras in TM to be like they were before then delete the cameras.dat file from the mod and it wont change the cameras.

it sounds like your best solution would be to list the parts of TM you like and just add them only. mod the mod so to speak so it only contains changes you want. this would be easier than trying to undo everything you dont like.

I can see where that might become a problem, and I agree that just because I like somebody else listing all their changes doesn't mean it's the best use of your limited time.
After reading the GWX manual I can understand why someone might not want to list the file changes for every single new thing!:dead::dead::dead:

I took some time looking deeper into TM. I realised it's not so much of a 'realistic gameplay' type of mod. There are some really neat aspects to it. And I know how much work can go into something like this. So hear what- Since I like RFB, RSRDC and ROW a lot and some parts of TM I'm going kamikazee-style and attempt to merge what I like if that's even remotely possible. If I fail then you'll find me floating away in a deflated rubber dinghy:lol:

DavyJonesFootlocker: remember, Subsims is your best friend with regards to information. I've found a series of helpful posts by Ducimus and tater (to name but a few). Problem is hunting them down and putting together the bits and pieces you'll find, but with a bit of perseverance you'll find what you're looking for. Good luck!
